THE ROLE

This position offers an unprecedented opportunity to coordinate a
coalition of NGOs in a campaign which aims to secure a well-protected,
ecologically coherent network of marine protected areas, including
highly protected sites, in Irish waters.

The role will require guiding, supporting and facilitating the
coalition members in the design and implementation of a winning
multi-year strategy. This will also include overseeing the day-to-day
administration of the campaign budget.

You will represent the coalition and campaign to stakeholders,
decision-makers and media. This will mean you will have experience of
successfully building consensus with a broad range of stakeholders
around achieving clearly specified objectives. You will have excellent
communication skills and be comfortable negotiating different opinions
and diplomatically finding agreement and common ground.

You will be comfortable working with a Steering Group, and seeking
their guidance, while independently coordinating and delivering on the
agreed objectives and strategy. You will lead a small team, but have
the support of a large and international network.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Drive the Campaign to make Ireland leaders in MPA designation and
management
* Lead on the design and implementation of a campaign strategy.
* Maintain effective coalition and campaign coordination.
* Identify and build relationships with key stakeholders and
decision makers
* Draft funder reports including compliance with all funder
requirements.
* Maintain funder relations.
* Administer campaign budget and payments, including participation
in additional funding requests as required.
* Act as the campaign spokesperson to stakeholders, the media and
decision-makers, alongside other coalition members.
* Manage a small team and maintain close relations with the campaign
Steering Group, including regular reporting
* Maintain records of information for example lobbying records
* Any other tasks as requested by the line manager

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

You can provide evidence of the following:

* At least five years of experience of successful campaign
management, including line-management.
* At least three years? experience of leading on grant and/or
project administration and management.
* Minimum of a Master?s degree in a relevant discipline e.g. law,
politics, sociology, public administration, marine biology, ocean
science, environmental studies etc.
* Experience of campaigning and/or nature conservation, including
public facing campaigning and communication tools.
* Understanding of various stakeholders such as: civil society
groups, funders, small- and large-scale commercial interest,
officials, politicians and government ministers.
* A passion for the demanding and multi-faceted work in marine
conservation and development.
* Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
* Excellent proficiency in working across software: online meetings;
word and spreadsheets; websites and social media.
* Adaptability to frequently changing requirements and needs.
* Availability to travel within Ireland and beyond.
* A full clean drivers licence

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

The following experiences are desirable:

* The writing of funding proposals.
* Strong understanding of marine conservation and ecosystem-based
marine management.
* Experience working with NGOs.
* Additional language skills (Irish, Portuguese, French, German or
Spanish).

political or private sector background, with experience of project
administration and management and you are confident in challenging the
?status quo?. You are comfortable working in a small organisation
and are excited by the prospect that every day is different. Your
campaign partners are situated throughout the country, some overseas,
and so you are excellent at remote and intercultural communications.
You have a ?can-do? attitude, a passion for learning and doing new
things. You are ambitious, creative, accommodating, and have a good
sense of humour. You are available to travel nationally and
internationally.

The annual gross salary for this role is of the range ?**Apply on

website**-hour week and salary is payable monthly in arrears.

* The IEN offices are located centrally in Dublin 7, close to lively
Capel Street and only 5 minutes from Luas. Due to the impacts of
Covid, staff are currently working remotely, and it is anticipated
that remote and blended working will continue to be offered to
employees in a post Covid work environment.

Attendance at meetings both in the IEN offices and with stakeholders
and project partners will be required as necessary. Travel outside of
the office is reimbursed according to our expenses policy.
Additionally, the role may require participation in meetings which can
occur in the evenings and at weekends.
