CHARITY SHOP MANAGER - CLONDALKIN

Down Syndrome Ireland (DSI) is the national charity for people with
Down syndrome and their families in Ireland, supporting over 3,**Apply

nationwide. We are working to achieve an optimal quality of life for
people with Down syndrome, as equally valued, independent citizens.

DSI is recruiting for a Shop Manager to help manage and develop its
charity shop in Clondalkin, West Dublin. The ideal candidate will have
the ability to drive sales and achieve income targets, as well as
recruit, train, manage and motivate a team of volunteer staff.
Relevant experience in retail and excellent customer service skills,
along with the ability to work under pressure and prioritise a varied
workload are essential attributes for the role.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Effectively manage all day-to-day aspects of the charity shop
including: staffing, customer service, stock and inventory, finances,
promotion, security, health & safety
* Actively source, recruit, train, manage and motive a diverse team
of volunteer staff
* Ensure the appearance of the shops internally and externally is
attractive to customers and that the customers experience is always
welcoming and positive
* Financial responsibility to ensure that cash handling procedures,
till receipts procedures, banking procedures and weekly sales
reporting are adhered to at all times
* Promote the shop through a variety of free and low cost channels
including window displays, customer sales events, posters, flyers,
local media and social media channels
* Responsible for the health & safety of all shop customers and
staff
* Any other duties as designated by the Head of Fundraising and
Retail

PERSON SPECIFICATION / REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

* Minimum 2 years? relevant experience in a similar charity shop
managerial role is essential
* Energetic, proactive and creative approach to work
* Experience using Microsoft Office, File Sharing (Online) and
Social Media platforms
* Excellent customer service and people management skills
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Good communicator with ability to lead, direct and motivate people
* Work effectively on own initiative and as part of a small team,
with an open and positive attitude
* Ability to problem solve and implement effective solutions quickly
* Flexibility in working hours and duties ? the role involves
occasional out of hours work
* An understanding and empathy for the mission and work of Down
Syndrome Ireland

DESIRABLE

* Knowledge and experience of Ireland?s charity retail sector
* Use of own car advantageous as travel between shops may be
necessary on occasion

DETAILS:

* This is a permanent full-time role with a six month probationary
period
* Competitive salary based on experience

* The Shop Manager role will be primarily based in Down Syndrome
Ireland?s charity shop in Clondalkin, West Dublin
* On occasion the role will require the attendance at meetings and
training in Down Syndrome Ireland?s National Support Office in
