VACANCY FOR THE POSITION OF SENIOR FINANCE OFFICER

The Irish Catholic Bishops? Conference (also known as the Irish
Episcopal Conference) is the assembly of the Bishops of Ireland
exercising together certain pastoral offices for Christ?s faithful
on the whole Island of Ireland. To help fulfil its aims more
effectively, the Irish Catholic Bishops? Conference has established
various Episcopal Commissions, departments, councils, agencies and
other bodies which focus on specific tasks and areas of responsibility
within the mission of the Church.

The Finance Office deal with all aspects of Episcopal Conference
finance, including interactions with the twenty-six diocesan offices,
external funders and regulatory bodies.

SCOPE OF POSITION

Reporting to and working closely with the Finance Manager, the
successful applicant will be primarily responsible for the maintenance
and development of the current financial infrastructure of the
Episcopal Conference with the assistance of the Finance Officer.
Responsibilities will include: suppliers and expenses; budgetary
preparation and control; preparation of internal management accounts,
preparation of year-end financial statements for audit; compliance
with statutory regulations (Charities Act **Apply on the website**)
and adhering to financial reporting standards and governance
applicable to the charitable sector.

LOCATION:

The successful applicant will be located in the offices of the Irish
Catholic Bishop?s Conference, Columba Centre, St. Patrick?s
College, Maynooth, Country Kildare.

It is anticipated that hybrid working will be available for this
position post the current Covid-**Apply on the website** pandemic.

IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION CANDIDATES MUST HAVE:

* A recognised professional Accountancy Qualification.
* Ideally, a minimum of 3/4 years? experience in an Accountancy or
Finance role.
* A proven ability and sound knowledge of Financial Management and
Budgeting.
* Knowledge of Standards of Accounting Practice for charity sector,
including Charities SORP.
* Experience in the preparation of Financial Statements and Audit.
* Expertise in Financial and Information Systems and a demonstrated
capacity in this area (including appropriate internal audit checks).
* Supervisory experience and strong people skills.
* Excellent organisational and analytical skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability
to adapt communication style and technique to a wide variety of
internal and external contexts.
* Advanced IT skills and a particular familiarity with SAGE and/or
equivalent recognised financial software packages.

IN ADDITION, IT IS DESIRABLE THAT CANDIDATES HAVE:

* Previous experience or familiarity with the charitable sector and
compliance responsibilities under the Charities Act **Apply on the

* An interest in working in an environment where there is a
requirement to understand the structure, ethos and operating
environment of a faith-based organisation.
