ROLE : PART TIME YOUTH WORKER,

Part time fixed term contract
Approx. one year contract

REPORTING TO: Youth Service Manager / CEO

OVERVIEW:

Cherry Orchard Equine Centre delivers a range of youth services via
Cherry Orchard Integrated Youth Service. This entails a mainstream
youth service and a Garda Youth Diversion Project. Cherry Orchard
Equine Centre also operates a community equestrian riding
school/training centre. The Cherry Orchard Community Training Centre
(CTC) operates from the Equine Centre also.

The youth services work with youths aged between **Apply on the
website** years primarily whilst the overall centre caters for youths
aged from 6 years upwards. At capacity the organisation caters for

per week across all of the services provided.

The Cherry Orchard Integrated Youth Service (COIYS) works with young
people who are at risk of social exclusion due to substance misuse,
negative education experience, early school leaving, involvement in
the criminal justice system and poverty. COIYS works with young people
in a number of ways; group work, outreach, Stay in School Programme,
individual work, Summer, Easter & Halloween Programmes and a Justice
Project. We participate in projects that involve other Youth Services
from across the city.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The successful candidate must be available to work evenings and
occasional weekends. The ideal candidate will have proven experience
working with young people including managing challenging situations.
The ideal candidate will also have experience dealing with relevant
agencies.

_DUTIES:_

* Deliver the actions and goals set out in the organisation?s
strategic and operational plans
* Design and deliver programmes, initiatives and interventions in
consultation with management, funders and the board
* Design and deliver youth work programmes in response to the
Department of Children and Youth Affairs _UBU Your Place Your Space
_national youth work programme.
* Develop mechanisms to engage young people in youth work programmes
* Support youth workers in the development of creative youth work
programmes that best suit the needs of young people
* Be involved in ongoing assessment of young people engaged in the
service
* Support youth workers with designated groups
* Develop integrated initiatives with local organisations and local
schools
* Successfully engage the high-risk target group in personal
development, life skills, education programmes and recreational
activities
* Ensure a range of wrap around support is available to support
young people
* Ensure the health and safety of all young people within the
service
* Have a clear understanding of the national government guidelines

* Be available to work at holiday periods (i.e. Easter, Summer,
Halloween holidays)
* Support in the recording of youth work sessions
* Engage with local and national organisations
* Write reports for local, national and European
organisations/agencies
* Write and update internal reports, prepare and deliver
presentations internally and externally

_QUALIFICATIONS_

* For youth work positions, a third level qualification (Degree level
or equivalent) in social work, social care, youth work/community work,
education or related discipline is required
* Three years? experience of working with vulnerable and at-risk
young people is desirable
* An understanding of issues affecting marginalised youth and
dedication to being a positive advocate for same is essential,
