PURPOSE OF ROLE:

With a vibrant team and rapidly growing business supporting
individuals and families Barr?g Healthcare are looking for a
candidate with considerable knowledge and experience of working in the
field of residential and social care with at least 5 years?
experience of working at a management level with people with
disabilities.

The Residential Manager will be responsible for the management and
effective delivery of residential care services. They will be
responsible for the day-to-day operations of the unit and ensure it
runs smoothly and in accordance with the policies and procedures of
Barr?g Healthcare and in line with HIQA National Standards for
Residential Services for Children and Adults with Disabilities.

To manage the home in accordance with its Statement of Purpose and to
ensure the maintenance of a safe and caring environment in accordance
with relevant legislation, HIQA national standards and Barr?g
Healthcare Policies and Procedures.

They will provide direct line management, supervision and leadership
for the Service and support our dynamic team and our business at an
exciting time of expansion.

The Residential Manager will ensure that the individuals we support
will be treated with dignity and respect, promoting a culture of
unconditional positive regard and compassion at all times.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: The Residential Manager will report to the
Disability Services Manager

PROBATION: 6 months
VETTING: All applicants will be subject to Garda Vetting and a request

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Professional

* To ensure that all care practices comply with relevant legislation,
HIQA National Standards for Residential Services for Children and
Adults with Disabilities and best practice.
* To actively promote, participate in and ensure the provision of
high standards of physical care, hygiene, and safety for all people
resident in the Home.
* To manage the home so as to meet as far as possible the expressed
needs of the individual residents, and to promote positive outcomes
for them.
* To participate in the pre-admission and admission processes to
ensure that the placement needs of the person are fully identified and
individual care plans in place to meet these needs.
* To ensure that individual care plans and person-centred plans are
developed, implemented, and monitored in accordance with agreed
standards.
* To ensure that the model of care is fully integrated within the
centre?s care practices and to monitor and evaluate its application.
* To carry out regular audits of care standards and practices within
the home and develop creative ways of engaging residents in this
process.
* To contribute to the development and implementation of governance
systems within the company to ensure continuous improvement in the
quality of service provided.

Management

* To be involved in the recruitment and management of the staff team,
this will include supervision duties.
* To organize and manage staff on a day-to-day basis in order to

care.
* To provide professional supervision to staff and participate in
staff appraisal in accordance with Barr?g Healthcare policies and
procedures.
* To ensure effective communication within the staff team regarding
operational practice, including systematic handovers between relevant
staff, accurate and detailed recording by all staff, and regular staff
meetings.
* To assist and support staff with the production of high-quality
written reports and ensure all relevant recording is completed in an
accurate and timely fashion.
* To implement the company?s human resource policies when required
including participating in the staff selection process, appraisal
process, management of absence etc.

Resource Management

* To assist with budgetary control in terms of verifying monthly
returns, mileage sheets and accounts for payment where required.
* To ensure that financial procedures re: resident allowances,
pocket money, clothing etc. are adhered to by staff within the home.
* To ensure petty cash policy is adhered to by staff within the home
and the completion of monthly petty cash returns to the Finance
Manager.
* To ensure the maintenance and promotion of a safe environment that
complies with health and safety and other legal requirements.
* To carry out reasonable duties as requested by the Operations
Manager or Disability Services Manager.
* To be responsible for managing client files and ensuring that a
case management structure is maintained and at the core of the work we
do.
* Carry out administrative and financial procedures in accordance
with the policies and procedures of Barrog Healthcare.
* To be involved with the preparation of reports, statistics and
other information that may be required by management.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

QUALIFICATIONS AND /EXPERIENCE.

A Level 8 qualification in Social Care or a relevant field i.e.
Psychology, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, Youth and Community
Work, Social Work, Social Sciences, Teaching & Nursing and Disability
Studies (accepted in respect of Disability Centre Management only)
AND: A minimum of 5 years' experience working at least at a Social
Care Grade in a residential centre for people with disabilities or in
the area of health and social care.
AND: An understanding of the requirements for registration under the
HIQA National Standards for Residential Services for Children and
Adults with Disabilities.
AND: A minimum of 2 years? experience of managing a team
AND: The requisite knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of
the duties of the role
AND: Candidates must have a suitable standard of professional
attainments.
AND: Have proficient ICT skills including a working knowledge of
Microsoft Packages - Excel and Word and be familiar with an email
package e.g. Outlook.
AND: Full Clean Driver?s Licence
AND: Permission to work in the Republic of Ireland

* A good understanding of policy, legislative and professional
requirements to ensure an appropriate standard of service delivery
(e.g. a working knowledge of the legislation relevant to role such as
