POSITION: SOCIAL WORKER IN MENTAL HEALTH

JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION

Offaly Traveller Movement (OTM) is a Traveller-led community
development organisation, working to address issues facing Travellers
in the region including, health, mental health, accommodation, youth,
education, cultural and ethnic identity and human rights. OTM is
delighted to be seeking a dynamic person for the post of Social Worker
in Mental Health with the Travelling to Wellbeing Service.

Travelling to Wellbeing is a unique service, being the only
Traveller-specific mental health service of its kind in Ireland. It
takes an evidence-based approach to providing a clinical, therapeutic
service to Travellers experiencing mental health difficulties, within
a community development context.

THE PURPOSE OF THE POST WILL BE:

* To provide a social work service that seeks to improve the mental
health and social wellbeing of Travellers through the implementation
of an accessible, equitable, person-centered service.
* To support individualised culturally appropriate recovery plans
with Travellers experiencing mental health issues.
* To address inequalities by working with Travellers and service
providers to improve referral pathways and aid recovery.
* To raise awareness and reduce stigma around mental health and
suicide within the Traveller Community.

This is a part-time post, **Apply on the website**-hour week (4 days).

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE:

* A recognised qualification as a Social Worker, **Apply on the
website** graduates will be considered.
* Registration with CORU or in the process of registration.
* Experience of working with people with mental health issues in a
health / social work / community work setting.
* Experience writing accurate, clear, concise and purposeful
reports.
* Experience of completing assessments.
* A demonstrable commitment to human rights and social justice and a
commitment to work from an anti-racist and equality work perspective.
* Demonstrated capacity to work on your own initiative and as part
of a team.
* Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent IT skills.
* Be dependable and flexible.
* Access to own transport with a full driving license, up to date
NCT, motor tax and class 2 insurance.
