Headway Ireland: Senior Psychologist, Cork
) is currently
seeking to recruit a Senior Grade Psychologist with strong experience
and interest in neuropsychology and community rehabilitation to lead
our Cork Psychology service.

Working closely with the national Psychology team, the successful
candidate will be responsible for service provision and development as
part of the wider Cork/Kerry Rehabilitation services.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.0 CLINICAL

1.1 Accepts referrals of persons with acquired brain injury for
specialist cognitive, emotional, behavioural, and vocational
assessment.
1.2 Accepts referrals of persons with acquired brain injury for
specialist cognitive, emotional, and behavioural therapies, including
family and group interventions.
1.3 Responsible for personal clinical caseload and the provision of
clinical supervision to psychologist/assistant/counsellor, as
required.
1.4 Contributes to the development of services to promote the
psychological well-being of persons with acquired brain injury and
their families.
1.5 Contributes to service development and auditing, including
development of effective and timely services that meet the needs of
clients, and conducting ongoing evaluations of effectiveness and
outcomes of services.
1.6 Attends team meetings, interdisciplinary rehabilitation meetings,
case conferences, management/organisational meetings as required.

2.0 ADMINISTRATION

2.1 Follows the policies of Headway in relation to service delivery,
health and safety, confidentiality and data protection.
2.2 Provides and maintains adequate statistics and records of work
(including activity and waiting times) as required.

3.0 AMENDMENT CLAUSE

3.1 Carries out such other clinical, research and administrative
duties as may from time to time be agreed with Manager.

4.0 GENERAL CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

4.1 General conditions of service will be in accordance with those
currently operating within Headway.

RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POST:

* A university degree obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours in which
Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that
subject
AND
* A recognised professional post-graduate PhD qualification in
clinical or counselling psychology
OR
* An equivalent non-Irish qualification validated by the Department
of Health

SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND/OR KNOWLEDGE:

* Experience in neuropsychological rehabilitation.
* Interest in further developing expertise in neuropsychological
rehabilitation.
* Experience of applying evidence-based practice.
* Sufficient professional / clinical knowledge and experience to
carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role.
* Ability to apply knowledge to best practice.
* Competence in delivering a professional service.
* Commitment to providing a quality service.
* Ability to plan and deliver care in an effective and resourceful
manner within a model of person-centred care.
* Ability to utilise supervision effectively.
* Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to
collaborate with colleagues, families etc.
* Awareness and appreciation of the client and the ability to
empathise with and treat others with dignity and respect.
* Effective team skills, flexibility and openness to change.
* Flexible, with ability to multitask in busy team environment.
