SENIOR CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST (SECONDMENT TO THE HSE)

CORK SIMON COMMUNITY ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING APPLICATIONS FOR THE
POSITION OF SENIOR CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST.

_PURPOSE OF THE POST:_

* Provide a full range of psychological services as part of an
established Multi-disciplinary CMHT to clients who are homeless and
are attending the AHIT team.
* Develop and deliver a new psychological service for women and
children at risk of homelessness / being supported for homelessness

_SOME OF THE KEY DUTIES OF THE ROLE INCLUDE__:_

* Be responsible for the development and delivery of professional
psychology services appropriate to the post in line with best
practice.
* Carry a clinical caseload appropriate to the post.
* Provide psychological assessments for the client group based upon
the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a
variety of sources including psychological tests, self-report
measures, direct and indirect observation and interviews with clients,
family members and / or carers.
* Undertake project management including audit and service
evaluation with colleagues within the service to help develop service
provision.
* Utilise evidence-based literature and research to support
effective practice.
* Conduct and promote service related research, providing research
advice as appropriate.
* Publish research outcomes in professionally recognised journals
and share information on outcomes at professional conferences where
appropriate.
* Engage in regular clinical professional supervision and provide
professional and clinical supervision of trainee psychologists.
* Provide post-graduate teaching and training and deliver teaching
and training to professional postgraduates including Doctoral
Psychology trainees.
* Ensure the maintenance of appropriate service user records and
statistics in accordance with HSE requirements and local guidelines,
Freedom of Information Act, Data Protection Acts and other relevant
legislation.
* Provide service reports / data as required.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR THIS POST WILL HAVE:

* a postgraduate professional psychological qualification recognised
by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical Psychology, or
Counselling Psychology as appropriate to the area of professional
psychology in which the position is designated OR a postgraduate
professional psychology qualification validated by the Department of
Health and Children in Clinical Psychology, or Counselling Psychology
as appropriate to the area of professional psychology in which the
position is designated
* at least five years? satisfactory postgraduate experience in the
area of professional psychology in which the position is designated.
* Knowledge an understanding of the factors that contribute to
homelessness
* A work ethos which is rooted in social inclusion and equality and
a flexible approach to the delivery of psychology services.
* Excellent clinical assessment / formulation skills in both adult
and child work
* Have experience in working with clients who are marginalized in
society, an understanding of the unique barriers faced by this client
group in accessing and engaging with psychological supports and a
working understanding of how to overcome these barriers.
* Access to transport as post will involve frequent travel
