DUNDALK COMMUNITY TRAINING CENTRE
Dundalk CTC is a voluntary organisation and a leading provider of
LMETB?s youth training programmes to young people from Dundalk and
the surrounding areas. Applications are invited from suitably
qualified persons for the post of:

ADVOCATE (GUIDANCE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE)

Dundalk CTC provides vocational training and education programmes to
meet the needs of young people aged **Apply on the website** ?
**Apply on the website** from the local area who have left mainstream
school early. Programmes have been developed to enhance each
learner?s potential to learn new skills and achieve relevant
certification necessary for progression into employment, further
training or continued education. This provision is supported by LMETB
and co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Social
Fund. The Centre also links with other service providers to increase
the choices available to young people and enable them to make
decisions based on the local availability of a range of options.

_THE ROLE_

REPORTING TO: Manager of Dundalk CTC

including two long service increments
LOCATION: Dundalk CTC Mulholland Avenue, Dundalk Co Louth

_THE POST_

* To participate fully in all elements of the Centre as they develop
over the contract period.
* To provide clients with a confidential, individual career path,
planning, guidance and counselling service on a case-load basis.
* To place disadvantaged young people in jobs.
* To arrange progression for young people through training and/or
education to paid employment.
* Liaison with Board of Management
* Manage progression locally under guidance supported by Board of
Management.

_QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE_

* An awareness and understanding of Quality and Qualifications
Ireland (QQI) , Common Awards and the National Framework of
Qualifications for CTC?s
* An accredited 3rd level Qualification (NFQ Level 7 minimum) in
Career Guidance Counselling or equivalent
* Minimum of 2 years? experience working with young people in a
similar function
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, teamwork, facilitation and
ICT skills
* A learner centered approach and ability to deliver flexible and
creative options that engage all learners
* Providing guidance and leadership to young people, with a
knowledge of the key state agencies who work with early school leavers

_SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE THE ABILITY TO:_

* To assist with the recruitment of learners interested in joining
the CTC
* To liaise with school parents, completion officers, and career
guidance teachers in local schools.
* To build a case load of targeted clients in their area./Carryout
diagnostics and assessments
* To provide clients with a confidential, individual career path,
planning and guidance on work experience options
* To arrange progression for disadvantaged young people through
training and/or education to paid employment.
* To build a client base of local employers who provide work at the
level appropriate to client aspirations, experience and educational
background.
* To build a case load of targeted clients in their area./Carryout
diagnostics and assessments

The salary scale associated with the post is (Pro Rata) ?**Apply on
