2 FIXED ? TERM POSITIONS FOR POST OF SCP PROJECT WORKER

Deis Scop School Completion Programme serves the south ?west suburbs
of Cork City and works with 7 primary and 3 post-primary schools. The
BOM invites applications for the post of project worker with Deis Scop
SCP. There are 2 posts available for the coming school year ?

The primary objective of these positions is to engage with a target
group of young people, aged from 4 years to **Apply on the website**
years who have been identified as being at risk of early
school-leaving. The project worker?s role is to enable them to
develop relevant skills, make helpful choices and set realistic goals
which supports them in engaging fully in school life, their education
and thereby maximising their potential.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE;

* A third level qualification and experience in relevant fields such
as social science, youth/ community, education and social inclusion

DUTIES;

* Working with young people (aged 4 ? **Apply on the website**
years) on an individual and group basis who are targeted for support
by Deis Scop SCP
* Facilitating and implementing age appropriate programmes in
response to the identified needs of the targeted students
* Planning, implementing and evaluating after-school and holiday
programmes
* Collaborating with SCP colleagues, school staff and various
agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for targeted students
* Maintaining detailed case and programme plans and reviews ?
based on an outcome focussed model of working
* Reporting regularly to the SCP Co-Ordinator and Management
Committee

TRAINING

Training and supervision will be provided on an ongoing basis

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL IDEALLY HAVE -

* Practical experience of working with young people in similar field
of expertise

* A knowledge and understanding of the Education system ? and in
particular educational disadvantage
* Familiarity with Deis programmes and an understanding of the remit
of The School Completion Programme
* The ability to develop, organise, deliver and facilitate
educational, recreational and skills based programmes on an individual
and group basis
* An understanding of Logic Model Planning and Evaluation tools
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Proficient IT skills
* FULL DRIVER?S LICENSE ESSENTIAL ? successful candidate must
have own transport
