BACKGROUND:?South West Mayo Development Company (SWMDC) is an
integrated local development company working mainly in south and west
Mayo. We deliver a range of programmes on behalf of Government
department and agencies.?

THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT?& YOUTH?OFFICER is required to work as
part of?the?South West?Mayo Development Company?(SWMDC)?Social
Inclusion?team in supporting and facilitating the implementation
of?SWMDC?s?SICAP strategic plan, with a particular focus
on?community?development?and youth.?

The overall aim of the role is to address poverty and disadvantage in
County Mayo by working to support disadvantaged individuals and
communities including engaging with a range of SICAP target groups to
reach their full potential.?

THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT?& YOUTH?OFFICER will be responsible for
the delivery of social inclusion actions as outlined across Goal 1,
Local Community Groups and Goal 2 individual clients
in?the?Castlebar & Claremorris and Mayo Islands?areas?of the SICAP

close collaboration with the team in the coordination and development
of the programme and relevant networks.?

ROLE:?The contract is for a full-time position for an initial fixed
term period of one year. This may be reviewed with the intention to
extend, subject to satisfactory performance and the continued SICAP

Based in our?Newport?office, with?hybrid?working arrangements
available.??

The desirable competencies include:?

* A relevant third level?qualification?in a subject
such?as?Community Development,?Youth and Community
Development,?Social Justice for example.?
* At least?two?years??experience in a similar role is
desirable.?
* Experience working with?socially excluded and/or
minority?groups?including young people not in education,
employment,?or training (NEETs).?
* Proven track record in group work and facilitation.?
* Experience in project delivery?independently and?with a range of
stakeholders.?
* Budget management experience.?
* Excellent time management and?workload planning skills.?
* Deep knowledge of community development and youth work principles
and practices.?Excellent ICT, communication and report writing
skills.?
