SENIOR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT (CONTROLS & PROJECTS) - ZIP HO

Zurich Insurance Plc is looking for a Senior Financial Accountant
(Controls & Projects)to ensure effective controls are in place on an
ongoing basis for all the financial reporting by ZIP, in order to
provide assurance on the compliance of the reporting with relevant
regulation and accounting standards, including Solvency II
requirements. The scope includes the relevant controls operating at
ZIP Head Office, operating in ZIP Branches and operating in other
parts of the Zurich Group.

In addition the role includes the oversight of the relevant
operational controls for the Finance function, across ZIP HO and its
branches, and the opportunity for involvement in other activities in
the ZIP HO Finance team, as appropriate.

YOUR ROLE

As a Senior Financial Accountant (Controls & Projects) your main
responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the
following:

Essential Job functions

* Solvency II, IFRS&IRISH GAAP reporting
* Maintain a regular scoping of the required controls, in agreement
with key stakeholders
* Monitoring the operation of financial control frameworks in all
relevant locations, including cooperation with the Group controls
teams on timetables and other topics
* Following up on action plans in place to address control
weaknesses, to completion
* Implementing a regular cycle of reviewing the controls to ensure
ongoing fit for purpose, considering evolution in the business and
related requirements eg IFRS**Apply on the website**
* Ensuring the compliance with the Data Policy, including the
ongoing maintenance of the Data Directory
* Representing the company in relevant Group projects relating to
financial controls and ensuring that proposed changes to frameworks
are appropriate to implement for ZIP
* Understanding the recording and reporting tools used to record
controls (eg RACE) and being an SME with regard to these tools
* Coordinating interactions with the regulator on financial control
topics
* Coordinating interactions with Internal and External audit on
financial control topics
* Reporting to internal stakeholders on the above topics, at the
relevant forums&committees

OPERATIONAL CONTROLS FOR THE FINANCE FUNCTION

* Assessing the relevant operational controls operating in ZIP HO
and its branches and supporting the implementation of any improvements
with the functions, including an ongoing review cycle
* Representing the company in relevant Group projects relating to
relevant operational controls, ensuring that proposed changes to
frameworks are appropriate to implement for ZIP
* Coordinating interactions with regulator on relevant operational
control topics
* Coordinating interactions with Internal Audit on relevant
operational control topics
* Reporting to internal stakeholders on the above topics at the
relevant forums & committees

Performance management accountabilities

* Collaboration across functions and territories

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

As a Senior Financial Accountant (Controls & Projects) your skills and
qualifications will include:

Technical competencies (preferred)

* Significant experience working with financial controls;
* Good understanding of Irish GAAP and IFRS and Solvency II
requirements;
* Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills;
* Knowledge of the (non-life) insurance industry
* Experience working in either a big 4 audit firm or a large
financial services organisation
* Strong communication skills for liaising with a number of
different stakeholders across Europe
* Project management experience and qualifications

Non-technical competencies

* Strong communication skills, written and verbal;
* Clear and logical thinking;
* Presenting skills to highlight key messages in the reporting to
management;
* Ability to build strong working relations with peers, colleagues
and with remote based teams;
* Recognition of the high importance of the control frameworks for
financial reporting;
* Team player - identifying and responding to cross dependencies
within the team;
* Positive outlook and flexibility to handle change, including need
for exceptional effort as required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Primary work location is IFSC . Position is Dublin-based but
occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.
