WE ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING APPLICATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITION:

HOSTEL MANAGER

An additional emergency accommodation hostel service for single people
is operating in Galway City. This is part of the response to
homelessness in the context of COVID-**Apply on the website** and will
incorporate the seasonal Cold Weather Response for the winter period
of **Apply on the website** up to April **Apply on the website**
initially. The service is currently operating from a commercial
tourist accommodation setting and will shortly be relocating to
another similar setting with capacity to accommodate a minimum of
**Apply on the website** people in single ensuite bedrooms.

The Hostel Manager will oversee the day-to-day management and
operation of this emergency accommodation provision in accordance with
appropriate guidelines, policies & procedures and in line with best
practice. The manager is required to establish and maintain an
appropriate atmosphere conducive to the welfare and wellbeing of those
accommodated, to motivate and lead a professional team of staff, and
to liaise effectively with other voluntary and statutory agencies.
There will be a strong focus on supporting people to exit homelessness
in the shortest possible timeframe.

A detailed job description and person specification outlines the full
criteria required for the position but includes the following:

* To manage the emergency accommodation hostel and any ancillary
services in accordance with relevant guidelines.
* To define and continually review the role of the service to ensure
effective delivery, in line with best practice.
* To monitor the levels of housing needs among clients, ensuring
full use of all available options subject to client needs and
reasonable preferences.
* To develop and maintain a strong focus on supporting people to
secure move-on housing
* To promote joint working with other agencies and service providers
to ensure that services remain non-exclusionary and that an ethos of
client participation and activity is fostered.
* To ensure that the work of the project is fully documented and
furnish reports as required.
* To ensure that expenditure is regularly monitored and maintained
within budget levels agreed.
* To speedily inform the Head of Homeless Services of any situations
in which expenditure may run in excess of budget, and to take
appropriate action to minimise any such eventualities.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

_EDUCATION:_

* A recognised third level qualification of relevance to management
in a Social Care setting.
* A considerable amount of experience and knowledge of best practice
in the area of homeless services.

_EXPERIENCE:_

* A minimum of five years? experience of working in the area of
homelessness.
* Experience of managing and developing a range of homeless services
to a professional standard.

_SKILLS AND ABILITIES:_

* A demonstrated ability in the area of staff management with
particular reference to staff support and appraisal.
* The demonstrated ability to represent the service convincingly and
to win support for it.
* Strong budget/financial management skills.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.

day rota Monday to Saturday)
