Education and Care or equivalent is required; candidates are also

previous experience working in an early years setting is required.

knowledge/experience:_

* Aistear, the National Curriculum Framework and the Aistear-S?olta
Practice Guide as well as an ability to work within these frameworks

* S?olta, the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood
Education
* Both the Reggio Emilia and the anti-bias approach and their
practices
* Working in a leadership capacity
* Providing support and supervision to a team

MAIN JOB PURPOSE

To manage, train, support and supervise the team at the Dalkey
community Pre-school Playgroup. Take responsibility for running the
setting and liaising with the board of directors and parents group in
ensuring high quality and best practice standards are maintained at
the service in accordance with the Aistear S?olta Practice guide and
frameworks as well as national legislation, regulation and emerging
international best practice guidance. Facilitate family participation
and support the parents group in fundraising initiatives.

OVERALL DUTIES:

* Ensure health, safety and wellbeing of the children at all times
* Ensure all quality and safety standards are maintained in the
service at all times
* Support the team in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the
preschool environment
* Advocate for risky and outdoor play and have an understanding of
risk-benefit assessment for children and the environment
* Support the team in creating culturally diverse educational
experiences for young children aged between 2.8 and 5 years
* Support the team in promoting children?s positive behaviour
management and conflict resolution
* Support the team in ensuring that the playgroup is appropriately
prepared and activities are easily accessible to all children before
and after the daily session
* Support the team in implementing an emergent and inquiry-based
curriculum, to include, documenting, facilitating and scaffolding
children?s play, as well as modelling and environment planning
* Support the team in assessing and planning for children?s
learning and development ensuring parents are a central role and
adapting plans to meet the child?s needs
* Develop and maintain current, accurate and confidential files as
well as policies and procedures of the organisation
* Promote positive and transparent relationships with parents,
children and colleagues
* Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
* Participate in and implement regular team meetings, continued
professional development (CPD) and training
* Establish open and regular communication with parents, and support
the team in keeping parents informed of program expectations, program
activities and their child?s progress
* To undertake any other duties as may be required from time to time
* Attend monthly board meetings in an advisory capacity out of hours
* Occasionally work additional hours as required
