MILFORD CARE CENTRE was first established by the Congregation of the
Little Company of Mary Sisters and today is a voluntary not-for-profit
organisation, a registered charity, and a widely recognised Centre of
Excellence in Healthcare, based in Limerick. Working in partnership
with the Health Services Executive, it delivers a comprehensive range
of Specialist Palliative Care and Older Persons Services across the
Mid-West region. The Board of Directors and its CEO, supported by the
Management Team, oversee and manage its ongoing operational service
provision and fundraising activities. Due to the planned retirement of
the current incumbent, applications are invited for the position of
Chief Executive Officer.

THE SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer will
be responsible and accountable for the effective and efficient ongoing
functioning of Milford Care Centre. S/he will realise the aims and
objectives of the Board regarding the ongoing provision of high
quality and safe patient care and the strategic direction of the
organisation through the development and implementation of appropriate
policies and plans and at all times ensuring the most efficient use of
resources. S/he will act within the policy, financial, governance and
other limits set by the Board.

Milford Care Centre is the sole designated specialist palliative care
provider for the Mid- West Region and incorporates a **Apply on the
website**-bed specialist palliative care in-patient unit and a number
of community multi-disciplinary teams operating from bases in Limerick
City, Newcastlewest, Nenagh, Thurles and Ennis. The Centre also
provides a day-care centre for older persons; and a **Apply on the

not-for-profit basis and largely funded through the Fair Deal scheme.
The Chief Executive Officer leads a Senior Management Team spanning
business professions and clinical specialists in managing its day to
day operations and in the execution of strategies and deliverables
across several defined areas. These areas include Clinical, Governance
and Compliance, Quality and Safety, Research and Education, Finance
and Fundraising, Human Resources and Organisational Development. This
Senior Management Team is a key component of an organisation which has

and responsive care to patients and residents across its three core
care units. In addition, Milford Care Centre has a large volunteer
community who carries out a range of specific tasks in accordance with
its ethos and who selflessly assist in the betterment of the
organisation and its services.

The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for the ongoing
delivery of services across the Centre?s Section **Apply on the

and the strategic objectives of the Board. This will also apply in the
case of Milford Nursing Home and as such S/he will ensure that all
statutory financial and clinical regulatory standards are complied
with and position the organisation to continue to grow, as well as
participating at national level with peers in other similar
organisations.

THE PERSON

Suitable applicants will have a minimum of a primary degree
qualification in relevant managerial discipline. They will have a
minimum of 5 years? experience at senior management level with
significant and demonstrable experience in clinical and corporate
governance. They will also have a track record in managing a
comparably large and complex organisation, ideally in a healthcare
setting, where they have shown leadership in researching, evaluating,
and delivering strategic change.

The role requires a highly motivated person with a drive to manage a
well-recognised patient centred and community-focused organisation and
who possesses excellent analytical, evaluative and relationship
management skills. S/he must have the ability to lead a large
organisation with multiple stakeholders and clearly be able to
demonstrate an empathy with Milford Care Centre?s ethos and
philosophy of care.
