Novas is a voluntary organisation and Approved Housing Body working
with families, children and single adults who are disadvantaged and
socially excluded; primarily those who are homeless or at risk of
being homeless. We provide a range of housing, health and recovery
services and accommodation for marginalised households throughout
Ireland primarily using a trauma informed approach (all staff are
trauma informed and trained) and a harm reduction model of support. We
also provide bespoke community based supported living services for
persons that find themselves homeless with complex support
requirements on both the Intellectual Disability and Mental Health
spectrums.

Novas are currently seeking applications from energetic and
enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Counsellor at our
Community Detox Service located in Limerick. The successful candidates
will be afforded necessary training and development in line with the
role. Candidates must be highly motivated, creative and experienced
with a passion for engaging with clients who are homeless/at risk of
homelessness.

POSITION: PART TIME COUNSELLOR (**APPLY ON THE WEBSITE**HPW)

CONTRACT: PERMANENT (SUBJECT TO FUNDING)

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

* A degree in counselling or psychotherapy. We will also consider a
diploma in counselling if accompanied with a degree in psychology,
social care or a related discipline. You will also require
accreditation with a professional body, minimum 2 years?
accreditation required.
* An excellent academic record, and appropriate personal qualities
(maturity, emotional stability etc.) are required. Relevant experience
is essential.
* Excellent core counselling skills.
* Excellent motivational skills.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to inspire trust and confidence in people from a wide
range of backgrounds.
* Ability to produce clear, concise written reports.
* Understanding of and commitment to the harm reduction model.
* Understanding of the needs of vulnerable communities.
* A confidence in working with clients who have experienced
adversity, trauma, deprivation, complex grief, bereavement, and also
intimidation.
* Understanding of impact of addiction on family members, experience
in family mediation is desirable.
* Full clean driving license and use of own car.
