OVERVIEW:

Kilbarrack Foxfield Preschool is a community Early Years? Service
with a strong ethos of providing high quality education and care for
young children, working closely with families, engaging in
multi-disciplinary cooperation and supporting early intervention.

into a service catering for children from two years of age to school
age.

ROLE 2: AFTERSCHOOL ASSISTANT (**APPLY ON THE WEBSITE** WEEK CONTRACT;
SCHOOL YEAR)

We are currently looking to recruit for the above positions, with a
start date AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. These roles may also involve the
provision of additional support to preschool staff in our centre
including holiday cover and short term absence.

They are ideally suited to those with experience of School age
childcare. The rate of pay is dependent on qualifications, experience,

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

THE REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY FOR THIS POSITION ARE:

* A minimum qualification of between FETAC/QQI Level 5 and 8 in
Childcare as recognised by the Department of Children and Youth
Affairs or similar, approved on an individual basis
* Garda Clearance
* Fluent English and Good Communication Skills
* Availability to work some full days between the hours of 8.**Apply
on the website** -6 p.m. if requested.
* Flexibility and a team player
* Current First Aid Certificate

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Working as a member of the Afterschool team in the provision of a
child centred, play-based programme. You will be responsible for
planning activities, ensuring the safety of all children in the
programme, serving after school snacks, interacting with children and
their families, working independently as well as with a team, and
creating an enriching, fun, and safe environment.
* Identification of additional needs and planning for appropriate
interventions either within the service provided or in conjunction
with external professionals
* Regular reflection on and redesign of environments and playspaces
in accordance with children?s needs and interests
* Communicating with parents on an ongoing basis
* Engaging with the local community, primary schools and other
relevant organisations
* Meeting and exceeding regulatory and inspection requirements
* Ensuring all policies and procedures are implemented and reviewed
as required
* Maintaining confidentiality and instilling awareness in all staff
of the importance of confidentiality in all matters
* Maintaining the health and safety standards of the service in
collaboration with the team
* Participating in all training and workshops as arranged by the
Manager
* Committing to remaining abreast of relevant policy and research
developments in the sector
* Hosting and mentoring university students as part of their
practice placement
* Attending all team meetings, appraisals and supervision meetings
as arranged by the Manager
* Other duties that may be assigned by the Manager as appropriate
