FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER

POINT 3 PROJECT WORKER SCALE (**APPLY ON THE WEBSITE**) PRO RATA

PART TIME: **APPLY ON THE WEBSITE**.5 HOURS P.W.

JOB PURPOSE

To work on a daily basis with families and individuals living in the
Rialto and Canal Communities area. Management of a caseload in a busy
multi-disciplinary addiction project, key-work individuals and
families, carry out assessments and care plans and regularly liaise
with other agencies/authorities on behalf of the service users.

* To support families attending the addiction service and work in
co-operation with our Family Support Worker
* Provide formal assessment, key working, case management and care
plan development supports.
* To provide focused one to one supports to help families identify
needs and to equip them to become more self-reliant.
* Assist family members to develop positive coping and responsive
skills, so they can address challenging behaviour within the family,
and crisis resolution within the family unit.
* To assess families in preparation for referral to our FamilyWorks
systemic family therapists.
* To identify models of best practice in relation to family support.
* Develop and deliver programmes to meet needs of the target
groups/individuals particularly around mental health and family
support.
* To deliver/facilitate evidence-based Family Training programmes
where appropriate e.g. 5 STEP
* To provide Parenting Support where needed and to offer a referral
pathway to Support groups when needed.
* To assist in organising occasional day trips and indoor events
during the course of your work for service users and their families.
* To provide a safe and non-judgmental environment to encourage
engagement for the family member & young adults within your position
in RCDT.
* To build a rapport with family members and act as a support and
advocate where appropriate.
* Support for families experiencing intimidation by informing them
of services that are available to them to assist them with this issue.
* To record new assessments and case notes on electronic database
(eCASS)
* Ability to participate in a case conference or a Meitheal when
requested
* Engage in relevant community action and Drugs Task Force groups
when requested.
* To work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
* To outreach hard to reach and vulnerable families who find it
difficult to access services.
* To refer service users to relevant treatment services and to
advocate on their behalf with other community based and statutory
organisations.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

* A minimum of 2 years? experience in family support work within an
addiction project (essential)
* Proficient IT skills including electronic data entry (ideally
eCASS system)
* One to one Key working/case management skills and experience
(essential)
* Minimum QQI Level 7 qualification in addiction studies (essential)
* Experience in working from a community development perspective
* Experience in parenting support
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills both verbal and
written are essential.
* To have excellent report writing and record keeping skills
* Knowledge around child protection issues, mental health issues and
addiction
* The ability to work on own initiative
