INTRODUCTION

Community Response Ltd is a primary alcohol and Liver Health/Hepatitis
C service, established in **Apply on the website**. The service is
based in the Liberties in the South Inner City of Dublin however our
free and confidential service is available to anyone located in Dublin
and its surrounding counties. Community Response is funded by the HSE
Addiction Services CHO 6&7, Canal Communities and South Inner-City
Drug and Alcohol Drug Task Forces.

Community Response is committed to the National Standards Better Safer
Health Care and works to promote equality, prevent discrimination, and
protect the human rights of service user when they are engaging in our
services.

TENDER

Community Response was awarded a grant from the Irish Human Rights and
Equality Commission through the Human Rights & Equality Grant Scheme
**Apply on the website**. It will be utilised to carry out the
following piece of work - To build capacity and empower New
Communities to understand their rights when accessing the Addiction
and Homeless Services and to protect and promote equality and
intercultural understanding in those organisations.

Migrant communities are more likely to experience marginalisation and
there is an opportunity to introduce improvements to organisational
culture and adopt a more inclusive way of working with people from new
communities.

In **Apply on the website** Community Response worked with CKU
Counselling on the New Communities Action research (completed in
December **Apply on the website**) to develop ways to work more
effectively with migrants living in the area who have alcohol and drug
addiction. Working with New Communities helped us to realise
opportunities of how to build upon the national quality standards to
engage with service users in a culturally respectful way,
understanding the possible language and cultural barriers that may
prevent people from using services.

We are working integrate human rights precepts, policies and practice
into their future service provision that can examine and articulate
potential discrimination through an approach that is practicable and
informed by culturally sensitive language, interventions and policy.
