ILMI is seeking a dynamic, motivated and driven individual to join our
staff team as a Community Navigator to carry out key functions as part
of the ONSIDE project in County Monaghan.

The ONSIDE Project has been supported by the EU?s INTERREG VA
Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).

We are working collectively to create an Independent Living Movement
in Ireland led by disabled people, promoting a rights-based social

view of disability. We are working towards the removal of societal
barriers that prevent active equal participation of disabled people,
challenging the denial of people?s rights and the promotion of the
philosophy of Independent Living.

ONSIDE PROJECT:

ONSIDE is a cross border project led by Independent Living Movement
Ireland (ILMI), Disability Action Northern Ireland; Supporting
Communities and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. It will reduce
social isolation amongst disabled people through the co-production of
a digital inclusion programme, involving community mapping, navigation
and peer advocacy. It will result in improved mental and physical
health outcomes amongst disabled people, while empowering them to
fulfill their potential as active citizens within their communities.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Community Navigator will have the
responsibility for providing tailored one to one support to disabled
people in County Monaghan to help address their social isolation and
support their participation in our online digital skills training
programme.

REPORTING ARRANGEMENTS & MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: The Community
Navigator will be responsible and report to the ONSIDE Project
Coordinator. The post holder will not have any staff management
responsibilities.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The key duties and major responsibilities of the Community Navigator
will include the following:

* To provide tailored one to one support to disabled people to help
address their social isolation.
* To support disabled people in Monaghan to become active
participants on our online social inclusion and digital training
workshops.
* To organise and deliver a number of 8-week programmes with ONSIDE
disabled participants either online or in mainstream community venues
in County Monaghan and work with ILMI staff to identify speakers from
appropriate local mainstream services with responsibility for social
inclusion.
* To work closely with ILMI Onside community navigators in Counties
Cavan and Louth to coordinate digital training workshops.
* To ensure a confidential and person centred approach in working
with ONSIDE participants.
* To comply with all the reporting requirements to ensure robust
governance of the project including maintenance of accurate records.
* To ensure compliance with internal procedures and appropriate
legislation relevant to the role.
* To build trusting and supportive relationships with participants.
* To work in conjunction with other teams (internal & external) to
develop links and partnerships with both statutory and voluntary
agencies.
* To participate in monthly planning and reporting meetings with
ILMI community navigators and the Project Manager

* To participate in monthly meetings with the ONSIDE Project Team,
including the following Project personnel specifically:

* Digital Inclusion Trainers (Supporting Communities)
* Website Developer (Disability Action Northern Ireland)
* Disability Health and Housing Officer (ILMI)
* Community Navigators (ILMI and Disability Action Northern Ireland)
* Peer Advocate Co-ordinator (Disability Action Northern Ireland)

* To maintain records which will assist in the interim and final
evaluation of the ONSIDE Project; and
* To prepare and present quarterly progress reports to the Onside
Project Manager
* To maintain financial records related to the ONSIDE Project
expenditure.
* To adhere to agreed corporate quality standards.
* To undertake any other duties as may be required from time to time
by ILMI in line with the status of the post.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

* A qualification in Community Development, Equality Studies,
Disability Studies or a or minimum three year?s experience in a
relevant organisation;
* A proven commitment to human rights and equality;
* Proven experience of assessing, identifying and addressing the
social isolation needs of disabled people (or other similar
disadvantaged or vulnerable groups).
* Knowledge and understanding of the local, national policy and
international fora that relate to disabled people;
* Commitment to the values of the ILMI and the philosophy of
Independent Living;
* An understanding of the Social model of disability;
* Proven experience of working in a person-centred context
* Experience of working in a human rights or community development
organisation experiencing similar issues at local or national level;
* Demonstrated experience to network;
* Excellent communication skills;
* Computer literacy, including familiarity with new media
technologies.
* The ability to meet the travel requirements of the post ? ie to
undertake travel throughout Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland

The Community Navigator role will be based remotely. Successful
candidate should have the ability to work from home. Laptop and mobile
phone will be provided by ILMI for the duration of the maternity
cover.
