GALWAY TRAVELLER MOVEMENT
EDUCATION PROJECT WORKER
Galway Traveller Movement works to level the playing field and
advocate for equality and inclusion in primary, secondary, further,
and higher education for members of the Traveller Community. We wish
to recruit a fulltime education project worker for **Apply on the
website** hours per week. This education project worker will be
employed for 1 year and may be extended subject to funding. The
successful candidate will be involved in the development and
implementation of an Out-of-School and After-school programme
promoting Traveller culture and identity, attendance, participation
and retention for young Travellers at Primary and Secondary level who
are at risk of early school leaving.
CRITERIA:
* At least Level 7ordinary degree /8 Level primary degree in
education, youth & community, social science, or a relevant field.
* 5 years work experience in community/education work in particular
with the Traveller community..
* An understanding of the education issues and policies impacting on
the Traveller community.
* The successful applicants will be required to work as part of a
team and have a commitment to working from an anti racist and equality
perspective
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Deliver and coordinate activities & interventions for primary,
secondary, further and 3rd level Traveller students.
* Engage with parents, schools, and key stakeholders.
* Measure equality outcomes for the Traveller community.
* Complete all project tasks to a high standard.
