IRISH SEED SAVERS CLG (ISSA) ARE SEEKING TO FIND A NEW GENERAL
MANAGER. Having spent the most recent 5 years developing our strategic
focus and strengthening our financial and operational sustainability,
we are inviting suitable candidates to join us in this exciting new
chapter setting the path for our long-term future.

ABOUT IRISH SEED SAVERS ASSOCIATION

Irish Seed Savers Association CLG is one of the country?s main
environmental conservation social enterprises. In operation for

seeds and fruit trees to protect Ireland?s food crop heritage.
Managing one the country?s public seed bank, with over **Apply on
the website** non-commercially available varieties of seed, we also
house the national collection of Irish heritage apple trees in our

Located on a **Apply on the website** acre farm, we provide
opportunities for the public to learn skills in biodiversity, organic
horticulture, and seed saving, all year round. Throughout the year we
run a wide range of workshops, host school tours, and invite the
public to participate in our events days. Working with support from
the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM), the Irish
Environmental Network (IEN), the Heritage Council, and various
philanthropic supports, we have a supporter base of over 2,**Apply on

JOB FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL CANDIDATE CRITERIA

JOB TITLE: General Manager
LOCATION: Capparroe, Scariff, Co Clare

REPORTING TO: Board of Directors

RESPONSIBLE FOR: The leadership, management, and monitoring of
ISSA?s various projects of work. With support from senior
co-ordinators, this role is responsible for the day to day operational
management as well as strategic drive of the organisation.

KEY FUNCTIONS OF THIS ROLE ARE TO

* Manage organisational development in collaboration with the Chair
and the Board of Directors to support our organisations vision,
mission, purpose, through effective strategic and business plans
* Supporting the team co-ordinators, to manage ISSA?s various
departments (Orchard, Seed, Education, Marketing & Development, and
Administration) to ensure that work is carried out in an efficient and
effective manner.
* Monitor and report on key targets and outputs associated with each
department?s strategy and plan of work.
* Ensure implementation of annual business and operations plans to
include marketing and fundraising, horticulture & education plans
among others in a timely and profitable manner.
* Increase revenue streams through the commercial development of
ISSA as a recognizable and profitable national brand.
* Manage the ISSA?s resources and assets effectively and in
accordance with the strategic plan, business and operational plans,
agreed policies and procedures, legal requirements, and good practice.
* Ensure compliance with the Charities Regulatory Authority,
Companies Registration Office and Office of the Revenue Commissioners.
* Maintain and further strengthen the organisation?s financial
stability, requiring sound experience in financial planning, budget
management, analysis, and cash-flow practice.
* Source funding for routine operations and specific projects via
grant writing, fundraising campaigns, partnership development and
personal solicitations.
* Manage funder relationships and ensure effective end-to-end
management of grants (e.g., Department of Agriculture, Pobal,
philanthropic, and project grants, etc)
* With support from the administration team, manage all HR matters
including staff supervision, training, oversee day-to-day personnel
matters, recruitment of new personnel, and ensuring managing regular
performance reviews to ensure operational effectiveness

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR THIS ROLE WILL BE REQUIRED TO DEMONSTRATE THE
FOLLOWING ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND KNOWLEDGE.

* Leadership, vision, creativity and strategy development - the
ability to develop new opportunities and to identify funding sources.
* Demonstrated experience in the development of a long-term vision
with a focus on approaches to entrepreneurially and strategically
growing the organisation.
* Excellent ambassadorial, networking, interpersonal and negotiating
skills.
* Demonstrable success at inspiring and developing a senior
management team.
* Commercial insight and outstanding communication and presentation
skills, both written and oral, with the ability to communicate
effectively at all levels, include being comfortable with and have
experience of public speaking (Press and at conferences).
* A proven track record in fundraising and marketing and in
achieving revenue targets and income streams per annum.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND KNOWLEDGE CONT.

* Experience in HR and people management - candidates will need
excellent communications and interpersonal skills, conflict management
skills, and be able to manage personnel issues.
* Excellent financial skills - candidates need to be able to oversee
cash flow and budgets and development of financial strategy.
* Effective computer skills especially Microsoft Office and CRM
systems
* An understanding of digital marketing and a good working
experience with social media.
* Excellent copyrighting skills,
* A good knowledge/understanding and genuine interest in
organics/horticulture/sustainable development and the conservation
work carried out by the ISSA (Desirable).
* Ability to work effectively under pressure, set priorities and
meet deadlines,
* Flexibility, adaptability and availability to work weekends and
evenings as required.
