POSITION: CENTRE RECEPTIONIST.

Responsible to: Director.
Contract: Part time, **Apply on the website** hrs per week, 8.**Apply

website**pm. Mon to Friday.
Temporary contract -maternity leave replacement

You will be expected to be involved in the overall work of the
service, and to be aware that you are representing this Early Years
Educational service, therefore confidentiality and professionalism is
essential. In many instances you may be the first person the public
will see and be in contact with, therefore your demeanour,
presentation and dress code is of the upmost importance.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

* Being able to deal with people using or visiting the service in an
effective, professional and friendly manner.
* Working co-operatively with the teachers and all other staff
within the service.
* Being able to deal with all or any of the outside
agencies/services in conjunction with the services business.
* Handling all queries in a professional, helpful and confidential
manner.
* Having good telephone/communication skills, as this is the first
port of call for most people contacting the service.
* Recording and relaying messages correctly to the appropriate
persons.
* Being competent in handling fees/monies when necessary.
* Be competent in using Microsoft packages including Word, Excel,
etc.
* Having a good up to date knowledge of
computer/filing/photocopying/photo editing etc.
* Being responsible for the front door, making sure only appropriate
persons enter the building, and sign in.
* Asking for identity from visitors/service providers- making sure
all visitors/students etc sign and out and that nobody goes through
the building without being vetted or accompanied.
* Any other suitable duties assigned by the Director.
* All staff will require Garda Vetting and two most recent
references.
* A knowledge of the area of Early Education would be an advantage.

* Level 6 with additional needs module completed
* BA Early Education Level 7/8

EXPERIENCE NEEDED FOR THIS POSITION

* Experience of working with children from a disadvantaged area and
some experience of working with children with additional needs.
Experience of the community and voluntary sector would be an
advantage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION

* Day to day responsibility for supporting children attending the
centre under the AIM programme, covering all as aspects of child
development and early education.
* To help identify and provide for the individual and collective
needs of the children through the caring and structured environment of
the Centre
* Planning, reviewing and implementing educational activities and
programmes through Aistear and Siolta appropriate to individual and
group needs.
* Observing all procedures as required in terms of care and control,
safety and good early years practice.
* Being vigilant and monitoring for signs of non-accidental
injury/sexual abuse/neglect/ social, emotional and developmental
delay.
* Reporting immediately any and every aspect of concern to the
Director.
* Choosing, organizing, presenting and caring for equipment and
materials.
* Have daily contact with parents and to recognise them as the
primary educators of their children.
* Preparation of regular and specific records/reports of the
children in their care.
* Staff are expected to continually up skill and add to their
knowledge base.
* Active participation in reviews, meetings and staff supervision
sessions.
* Active contribution to the development of the service.
* Participation in ?child related? educational courses, talks,
workshops, conferences etc.
* Preparation for and supervision of students, trainees? staff,
volunteers and parents.
* Working in partnership with parents, recognizing them as primary
educators of their children, operating the open door policy and
preparing for and carrying out regular meetings with the parents of
children under your care.
* Liaising with other professionals in the field e.g. speech
therapists, social workers, public health nurses etc. To participate
in the continual assessment of programmes with the Director.
* Staff are expected to co-operate with the supervision by
management to undergo appropriate training.
* Staff are required to be fully aware of Aistear Curriculum
framework and Siolta the Quality framework and be able to implement
these frameworks into all their day to day work.
* Staff work as part of a team and are expected to be involved in
the overall work of the centre.
* Any other duties as requested within the context of the work of
the centre.
