Our client is a multinational medical devices manufacturer who specialise in the development and manufacture of cardiovascular devices and implants.
Job Description
Experienced medical device professional with a knowledge of multiple medical device fields. The individual will seek out, identify and complete a technical and business assessment of new medical device technologies that satisfy corporate investment strategies. The individual will contribute to projects at an R&D engineering level as well as a business level while maintaining/developing collaborative relationships for future business.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Seek out new medical device technologies outside of corporate that will add to the company and corporate product portfolio.
Seek out medical device technology innovators and develop and maintain a relationship that can potentially lead to new business.
Complete market assessment of competitive landscape for new devices/technologies under investigation.
Conduct basic IP risk assessment of potential new technologies through knowledge of patent granting process in various regions.
Maintain a database of potential new technology projects and contacts that can be engaged to adapt to changing company and corporate business strategies.
Complete device/technology feasibility studies for initial and final stages of investigation to minimise risk on potential investments.
Research market/business potential of new technologies that are being pitched by medical device technology innovators for investment.
Work on projects at an R&D engineering level such as proof of concept investigations and progressing projects through the design control process.
Work closely with company cross functional teams to ensure that new projects will support capacity, yield, cost, resource and performance requirements.
Communicate regular and accurate updates on new business development status and active projects to company management and key stakeholders.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with a minimum 10 year’s experience in the medical device industry.
R&D Engineering background essential with experience in new business development.
Knowledge of regulations and standards required for the development and approval of medical device products.
Knowledge of devices associated with multiple medical device fields.
Knowledge of funding options/eligibility from national and international funding bodies.
Experienced in project and budget management.
Experience in negotiating with business leaders.
Excellent communication skills with experience in communication to senior levels of an organization and customers.
