INTERIM CEO ROLE ? FIXED TERM CONTRACT

The Board of the Asthma Society of Ireland wishes to recruit an
Interim CEO for the purposes of maternity leave cover.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The role is an outstanding opportunity for a skilled strategic leader
to continue the society?s impact for the duration of the maternity
leave contract, implementing the existing strategic and operational
plans.

STRATEGY AND OPERATIONAL PLAN IMPLEMENTATION

* Implementing relevant and timely agreed aspects of the strategic
plan (_Stopping Asthma Deaths in Ireland_) the Operational Plans for
H**Apply on the website** and Q**Apply on the website**), including
ensuring robust reporting is in place to monitor progress against
strategic goals

HEALTH PROMOTION SERVICE DELIVERY

* Continuing to deliver our high quality services to people living
with asthma (and COPD) and to healthcare professionals to ensure best
practise in asthma management ? for the duration of this contract,
there will be a focus on service and operational efficiency
improvement

ADVOCACY & RESEARCH

* Maintaining the existing advocacy and research programmes to
advocate for change on behalf of people with asthma
* Supporting the Asthma Society team as they maintaining effective
relationships with key stakeholders e.g. Department of Health, Health
Service Executive, medical, nursing and allied health professionals,
peer organisations, funders and sponsors

AWARENESS

* Ensuring that the Society?s spokespersons across key strategic
areas are supported to deliver the Society?s key messages, campaigns
and priorities and ensure that the Society maintains positive
relationships with key media outlets
* Representing the Society on the media, when required or
designating Asthma Society team members to represent the Society

FUNDRAISING

* Building on the **Apply on the website** Fundraising Strategy,
overseeing the expansion and diversification of the fundraising
function, enabling delivery of the vision and strategy, ensuring
fundraising provides the organisation with a sustainable and diverse
income base
* Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with donors,
sponsors, corporate partners and members ? with a view to
diversifying our income streams
* Mobilising, engaging and growing our membership for fundraising,
volunteering, advocacy and activism within their communities ? with
the support of the full Asthma Society team
* Building on the **Apply on the website** Fundraising Strategy,
maintaining existing strong income streams such as statutory and trust
and foundation support while also developing additional income streams
in areas such as regular giving, community engagement and events,
major donor engagement, CSR, legacies etc.

ORGANISATIONAL MANAGEMENT

* Work with the management team to manage a diverse and talented team
of staff and volunteers
* Ensuring the organisation?s legal, financial and fiduciary
arrangements are in line with best practice and continue to provide
assurance to our stakeholders and funders
* Maintain a positive working relationship with the chair and the
board to ensure the organisation maintains a strong culture of
governance, transparency and integrity

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

_ESSENTIAL:_

* At least 5 years previous relevant experience in a senior
management role
* Strong coaching abilities to support the management and programmes
teams as they develop and grow
* A proven ability to implement strategic and operational
priorities, as set out for the organisation, with a commitment to
operational excellence
* A commitment to our values and a passion to improve the lives of
people living with asthma
* Strong commercial and financial acumen including understanding of
how to support and grow fundraising and income generation activities

_DESIRABLE:_

* Knowledge of organisational, governance and legal responsibilities
in the voluntary sector
