WORK SCHEDULE: **Apply on the website** month Fixed term contract,
**Apply on the website**.5 hour full-time flexible working week
including evenings and weekends, as required, to meet the needs of the
service
ROLE PURPOSE: The purpose of this role is to facilitate youth work
approaches through the medium of outdoor learning programmes
THE ROLE:
* To deliver programmes and training in a professional manner and
commit to continued personal development.
* To take a youth work based approach focused on young people
identified as most in need in an area and based on the Crosscare Model
of Youth Work and Outdoor Learning principles.
* To link with the local youth service manager and the team in
identification of young people and planning the right activities for
these young people. The activities to be planned, organised and
delivered will include, place based outdoor learning, hill walking,
climbing, bush-craft, kayaking, coasteering and white water swimming.
* To help develop the personal, social skills and abilities of young
people involved and to help develop outdoor learning approaches within
the youth service.
* To work as part of the both the local youth service team and the
Outdoor Learning team in developing, promoting and evaluating the
Outdoor Learning provision in this role.
* To promote best practice and display a commitment to always act in
accordance with Crosscare?s values, policies and procedures.
* Any other reasonable duties as required by the Manager.
THE HOLDER:
(QUALIFICATION/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS)
* A minimum of 1 years? experience working with young people in a
youth service organisation, through the medium of outdoor learning.
* The ideal candidate will have a level 7 degree or higher in the
area of outdoor learning/ adventure sports/ youth studies/ social care
or equivalent.
* ESSENTIAL OUTDOOR LEARNING QUALIFICATIONS: Level 2 Kayak
Instructor, Rockclimbing Instructor Award, Mountain Leader Training,
Coasteering Leader, White water Rescue technician & Wilderness First
Aid.
* DESIRABLE OUTDOOR LEARNING QUALIFICATIONS: Mountain Leader,
Mountain Skills provider,, Surf Instructor, Fitness Instructor,
Mountain Bike Instructor, Full Driving license
* Full clean driving license is essential. A D1 Mini bus license
would be an advantage also.
* Strong interpersonal, motivational and leadership skills are
essential
* Effective oral & written communication skills
* Ability to work on own initiative
