VOLUNTEER POLICY AND DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

ALONE is a national organisation that strives to enable older people
to age at home, safely and securely, for as long as they wish. We work
with all older people, including those who are lonely, isolated, frail
or ill, homeless, living in poverty, or are facing other difficulties

We provide an integrated system of Support Coordination, Practical
Supports, Befriending, a variety of Phone Services, Social
Prescribing, Housing with Support, and assistive technology. We use
support plans, provide a point of contact for access to health, social
care, housing, transport and other arising needs using technology and
other services and activities to improve physical, emotional and
mental wellbeing.

We have nearly 3,**Apply on the website** volunteers throughout the
Country who conduct and provide practical supports to older people,
visits and phone calls, linking older people into social activity and
being a companion.

We currently have a vacancy for a suitably qualified VOLUNTEER POLICY
AND DEVELOPMENT MANAGER to make a significant contribution to the
achievement of ALONE?s vision and strategic goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* To implement and maintain a volunteer strategy in ALONE that
promotes the continuous improvement and engagement of?volunteers
ensuring they are integrated into all activities and their impact
celebrated across all departments in ALONE
* Ensure ALONE lives its values as a voluntary organisation and the
time commitment and impact of volunteers is integrated into all
activities.
* Represent ALONE at national volunteer forums and groups.
* Look for opportunities to enrich and expand the contribution and
satisfaction of volunteers
* Develop a national volunteer feedback and engagement process on
all areas of volunteering to ensure consistent applications of
learnings across the country
* Advise and support managers in order to strengthen and increase
the capacity of the volunteer network in ALONE.
* Support operations, managers and employees to ensure all policy
and practices are consistency applied across the organisation.
* Ensure the highest standards in terms of policy and practice are
in place for the recruitment, support, and development of all
volunteers
* Design, execute and continuous evaluate all programme activities
* To ensure ALONE Garda? vetting policy and practice are to the
highest standard, are consistency applied by managers while managing
any disclosures arising.
* Develop and maintain all volunteer handbooks, training materials
and resources.
* Maintain volunteer health and safety polices and ensure all
managers and support officers apply these policies in practice.
* Working collaboratively with operations and services to ensure
that the training we supply is to the highest standard and provided
locally.
* Articulate and communicate ALONE?s volunteer expertise with
other voluntary organisations in order to develop a platform of shared
learning
* Co-Design formal and informal programmes that recognise the
contribution of volunteers to the organisation and ensure that
managers lead in the application.
* Promote volunteer opportunities, organise profile raising events
to attract new volunteers and raise funds.
* Consistently promote internally from Board level down practices in
ALONE to help ensure a positive experience for volunteers

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

* Good knowledge of operating in a volunteer related organisation,
and understanding of the not for profit sector.
* Exceptional leadership, computer and communication skills,
particularly in creating handbooks, training manuals and other
programme materials.
* Experience with managing projects is desirable. Strong analytical,
leadership and planning skills.
* Ability to network and negotiate effectively with individuals and
groups, within the company and outside.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with good
attention to detail

FURTHER DETAILS

* Fulltime position (**Apply on the website** hours Monday ?
Friday), 9am to 5pm,
* 2 year fixed term contract
* Place of work: ALONE Offices, Olympic House, Pleasant St, Dublin 8
- travel within the Republic of Ireland may be required.
* Salary commensurate with experience.
