In the past, many people left Ireland to live in other countries. But in 1996, things started to change. More and more people from different countries began coming to Ireland to live and work.
Total population: In 2022, there are 7 million people in Ireland (back in 2006, there were 4 million people).
Total Dublin population: Dublin, a city in Ireland, has 1.4 million people now. In 2006, there were 1.2 million people.
Net migration: Many people have moved to Ireland from other countries. From 2002 to 2006, around 50,000 people came here every year. More people are coming now.
Cost: In 2023, Dublin is the 9th most expensive city in the world out of 130 countries. It used to be the 16th in 2006.
