JOB TITLE: YOUTH WORK TEAM LEADER

* LOCATION: Bohermore Community Centre, Bohermore, Galway.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

* To work with/ manage a team of youth workers in the provision of an
afterschool setting, engaging with young people living in
disadvantage.
* To efficiently implement programmes that has been approved by the
Board of Management.
* To always work in a manner which upholds the ethos of the
community and which positively contributes to the physical, mental,
emotional and social development of the young people for whom the
service is being provided.
* To oversee and contribute to the running of all activities within
a safe and stimulating environment.
* Be up to date with the latest youth work and childcare
legislation.
* To engage with target groups
* To be capable to work on own initiative and as part of a team

MAIN DUTIES

* To work with /manage a team of youth workers.
* To maintain and ensure a safe and stimulating environment for the
young people for whom the service is being provided.
* To assist in the planning, organising and running of the
activities of the service that is being provided.
* To oversee the day to day administration of the service that is
being provided in the after schools project.
* To manage funding applications and returns to funders.
* To be the designated person for the HSE Children First.
* To liaise with parents/ guardians and others as necessary.
* To report directly to the project coordinator.
* To carry out all responsibilities within an equal opportunities
framework.
* To carry out staff supervision on a regular basis
* To maintain confidentiality at all times.

ESSENTIAL

MUST BE FLEXIBLE

EDUCATION

* A relevant qualification in the area of childcare/youth
development, social care, or equivalent.
* Additional qualifications in the area of staff management i.e.,
returns to funders.
* Excellent computer skills, especially Word and Excel.

EXPERIENCE

* Must have a minimum of 3 years? experience of working with young
people.
* Experience of staff supervision in a community based setting.
* Experience of community based funding and administration duties.
* Knowledge of the needs of young people and families, with a
particular emphasis on young people living in disadvantage.
* Experience of working with young people on a one to one basis and
in groups is essential.
* Have knowledge and experience of the UBU funding application
process.

in groups is essential.
* Excellent communication, planning, organizational skills,
networking and report writing skills.
* Excellent teamwork skills and ability to work on own initiative
but seek guidance as appropriate.
