PROJECT SUMMARY

The Community Alcohol Detox project is a strategic regional response

website**, Ballyfermot, the Canal Communities and the SICDATF. The
project will target individuals who would like to address their
alcohol use. The project's strategic vision is to improve the health
and well-being of people who have alcohol dependence or are engaged in
harmful drinking. It is envisaged that a dedicated worker will work
with the Task Force staff and project staff to develop robust
interagency protocols in line with the National Drug Rehabilitation
Framework. The project aims to build on existing resources and
expertise to respond to the impact of problematic alcohol use. The
project will work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders;
there will be an investment in staff training and the strengthening of
interagency work and consultation with a wide cohort of stakeholder.
The project will support projects/services to build their capacity and
adapt and respond to emerging needs.

The Project Management Group (PMG) is committed to stakeholder
involvement in the design and development of the Alcohol Detox
Framework. The PMG withholds the central importance of clear
information and guidance for service users and other stakeholders. As
part of this, the group wish to develop an Alcohol Detox Manual (ADM)
for all stakeholders, which will form part of the Community Alcohol
Detox framework. Other elements of the framework consist of training,
communications and promotional information, the programme itself,
using the National Drugs Rehabilitation Framework (NDRF) and a service
user involvement review. Our project ethos adheres to the principles
of the Human Right and Equality Commissioner. We want to ensure that
people who experience being marginalised are not excluded from the
process and have access to information, support and services that meet
their needs.
