TITLE: Health Care Assistant / Social Day Care Operative

LOCATION: Beaufort Day Care Centre, Company Limited by Guarantee,
Glasthule Road, Glasthule, Co Dublin

REPORTING TO: The Day Care Centre Manager

THE POST:

Beaufort Day Care Centre is currently recruiting for the position of
Health Care Assistant / Social Day Care Operative. The person
appointed will work as part of the Beaufort Day Care Centre team to
provide social day care services and meals on wheels to the people
registered in our service. Our aim is to create a positive experience
and atmosphere for our clients in a safe, welcoming environment and
one in which their individual care needs are met. The candidate will
be expected to have excellent communication skills and the desire to
be part of a team with a genuine passion for working in healthcare and
an understanding of social day care for the elderly.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

* Responsible for communication of the dietary needs of clients and
recording of same
* Recording client notes
* Support and empowering clients in their participation in
activities
* Assist in the planning, implementation and leading of activities
* Actively support the smooth running of meals on wheels and other
service activities
* Delivering hot meals to residents of Glasthule
* Assist clients in mobilisation and personal care
* Communicate effectively
* To build, develop and maintain positive professional relationships
with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
* To be aware of current responsibilities regarding the safeguarding
of vulnerable adults.
* To adhere to all the Centre?s policies, procedures and working
practices.
* Maintain a high level of hygiene and cleanliness
* To attend staff meetings and training as required.
* The person employed will be required to carry out such other
duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Day Centre Manager
or Board of Directors.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR A PERSON WITH THE FOLLOWING QUALITIES, SKILLS, AND
ABILITIES:

* Creative thinker
* Positive disposition
* Respect and understanding of older people.
* Good organisational skills.
* Ability to follow direction and ask questions
* Dementia and mental health awareness
* Willingness to take on new challenges
* Experience with elderly, vulnerable or disadvantaged persons
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
* Basic IT experience in Microsoft Word and Excel
* An ability to complete online training
* Awareness of the importance of food safety and hygiene for
vulnerable and elderly

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Completed Social Care Work/Health Care Support QQI Level 5 or more
(or equivalent)
* Manual handling training
* Patient handling training
* First Aid certified

ADDITIONAL ITEMS THAT WOULD BENEFIT THE CANDIDATE:

* Trained in Food Safety
* Experience in delivering activities for the older person
* Training or experience in creative therapies
