EMPLOYMENT OFFICER

THE ORGANISATION:

AsIAm, a not for profit organisation, is Ireland?s national autism
charity based in Blackrock, Co Dublin. AsIAm is a fast paced and
growing organisation that works tirelessly to create a society in
which every autistic person is empowered to reach their own personal
potential and fully participate in society.

AsIAm is currently developing a new Department within the organisation
to specifically support autistic adults to participate in the
community, engage in self-advocacy and access employment. Central to
this work, will be providing a dedicated source of information and
guidance for autistic candidates and businesses in order to create
successful employment opportunities. Additionally, the organisation
will develop a pilot programme to increase the employment of autistic
adults in Ireland

THE ROLE:

We are currently looking to recruit an innovative and empathetic
individual with strong relationship management skills to join our
organisation in the role of EMPLOYMENT OFFICER. The Employment Officer
will play a key role in supporting autistic candidates to gain
employment while also supporting the business community to
successfully recruit and employ autistic candidates.

In addition, the Employment Officer will be responsible for designing
innovative programmes to address autism unemployment. The successful
candidate will report directly to the Head of Adult Support &
Employment.

This new role provides an ideal opportunity for someone who is
passionate about influencing positive social change in our
communities, relishes the challenge of a start-up programme, and is
interested in working with the AsIAm team to break down the
geographical and social isolation experienced by many autistic people
and their families.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Support the design and implementation of a pilot programme which
supports inclusive employment opportunities for autistic adults
* Support the overall development of AsIAm?s Employment Programme
* Provide direction and support to autistic candidates seeking
employment
* Liaise with the Training Team in providing employment support and
consultancy services to employers who are interested in recruiting and
supporting autistic talent
* Develop positive relationships with key stakeholders, communities,
businesses, and the autism community
* Monitor both successes and challenges and prepare comprehensive
reports for the Head of Adult Support & Employment
* Provide regular updates to the Head of Adult Support &
Employment/CEO as required
* Participate in the overall team to ensure collaborative teamwork
and support other team members as required

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

* A desire to champion, within their communities, social inclusivity
for adults on the autism spectrum to reduce under and unemployment
* An in-depth knowledge of autism and the barriers experienced by
autistic adults
* Experience in supporting people with diverse and complex needs and
situations
* Ability to operate independently
* Proven track record in working with autistic adults
* Ability to interact with and engage communities to support the
Programme throughout the country
* Ability to engage with the Corporate/Business community and
deliver presentations / workshops as required
* Ability to develop, disseminate, interpret and communicate the
outcome of consultative processes including surveys and focus groups
* Ability to assess successes and concerns and take action as
required
* Ability to engage with complex stakeholder management, to build
consensus and to resolve conflict as it arises
* Excellent reporting capabilities
* Strong computer literacy
* Full driving licence

OTHER REQUIREMENTS RELEVANT TO THE ROLE BUT NOT ESSENTIAL ARE:-

* Knowledge of disability legislation and social policy
* Experience of HR or working with corporate organisations
* Analytical and report writing skills
* Relevant academic qualification
* Proven track record in programme management and delivery

CONTRACT DURATION

This role is full-time role for an initial three year period, with a
view to extension.

SALARY & BENEFITS

AsIAm will offer salary and benefits commensurate with AsIAm pay scale
and experience. This includes a 3% pension contribution and access to
an Employee Assistance Programme, following probation.

WORKING HOURS

The role is Monday to Friday, 9:**Apply on the website** am to

The role holder is required to have a degree of flexibility with
regard to working hours with the expectation of some evening and
weekend work.

On successful completion of probation, the role holder will be
eligible to apply for a remote working arrangement in line with
company policy.
