JOB DESCRIPTIONS AND PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

POST OF PLACEMENT OFFICER

CORK VOLUNTEER CENTRE provides a service matching individuals who
would like to volunteer, with non-profit organisations who involve
volunteers in their activities. Advice and support is offered to both
volunteers and non-profit organisations through a range of services
including information, consultation, volunteer management training and
Garda vetting administration. Cork Volunteer Centre is a non-profit
organisation funded by the Department of Rural and Community
Development. Cork Volunteer Centre is a member of Volunteer Ireland.

JOB TITLE: Placement Officer

REPORTS TO: Manager

ROLE: To recruit volunteers and match them to opportunities and
support them in their volunteering roles; to work with voluntary and
community groups to ensure that there are a variety of identified
roles available for volunteers to participate in; to support the
Manager with the implementation of the Board?s Workplan. Most of the
work will be done using Salesforce (online database)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

_RECRUITMENT & PLACEMENT_

* Recruit and place volunteers for a variety of tasks and roles.
* Engage in outreach activities for the Centre across the City and
County of Cork.
* Establish the needs of registered volunteers and provide them with
necessary supports to secure satisfactory placement.
* Facilitate the placement of individuals seeking volunteer
opportunities in Cork? interviewing new volunteers to ascertain
their interests and skills; placing volunteers in suitable roles;
keeping in touch with them after their placement begins to ensure
their volunteering experience is a positive one.
* Help manage volunteers involved in the Placement Team in the
Centre.
* Build relationship with voluntary and community organisations
within the City and County to ensure that a wide range of volunteering
opportunities is registered with the Centre.
* Provide advice and assistance to organisations wishing to recruit
volunteers.
* Maintain an up-to-date database of volunteering and volunteering
opportunities on Salesforce database system.
* Keep accurate and methodical records relating to volunteering and
volunteer?s opportunities.
* Develop and co-ordinate the activities of a new team of community
?reserve? volunteers in Cork City and County and enable and
support them to contribute to their community through meaningful short
term and episodic volunteer roles, as well as being on standby for any
future local or national emergencies.

_PROMOTION & QUALITY IMPROVEMENT_

* Promote volunteering across the community through activities such
as talks, presentations, workshops, job clubs, fairs, clinics etc.
* In line with the work plan and Quality Standards Framework,
undertake social inclusion initiatives to increase the accessibility
of volunteering for all. This might include, inter alia, development
and delivery of training and supports to migrants, older people,
people with disabilities, the long-term unemployed, youth etc.
* Help update policies and procedures for the Centre, particularly
as they relate to the placement service.
* Support the manager/board in the continuous quality improvement of
the Centre and the new Quality Standards Framework.
* Formulate reports/communications, as requested, for the purposes
of Board Reports, Press Releases, Funding Proposals, Progress Reports
and Communications with Stakeholders including volunteers.
* Represent the Centre in community events across Cork and meetings
relevant to the Volunteer Sector.

_OWNERSHIP AND ACCOUNTABILITY_

* Actively participate in peer learning and development within the
Centre.
* Support Vetting as required by the CVC Liaison Person (Authorised
Signatory)
* Complete other duties as maybe determined by the Centre
manager/board.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

_ESSENTIAL CRITERIA_

* Personal experience of volunteering.
* Minimum of two years? experience in the community and voluntary
sector.
* Relevant third level qualification.
* Excellent IT skills
* A FULL CLEAN DRIVING LICENSE AND ACCESS TO A CAR FOR WORK
PURPOSES.
* Knowledge of and experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM.

_ADDITIONAL SKILLS/PREFERENCES_

* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to network effectively between different organisations.
* Ability to deliver training to a diverse range of individuals and
groups.
* Ability to advise, inform, motivate and support individuals and
organisations.
* Flexible and self-motivated person with the ability to work in
team and use initiative to work on your own.
* A willingness to work alongside volunteers.
* Enthusiasm and drive, friendliness and approachability
* Accurate and methodological approach.
* Commitment to the concept of volunteering and objectives of the
post.

_KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE_

* Possess a relevant qualification and/or relevant experience in
community/voluntary sector.
* Understanding of volunteerism
* Awareness of equal opportunities
* Knowledge of the needs of urban and rural organizations

PLACE OF WORK: Cork Volunteer Centre,**Apply on the website** North
Main St, Cork as well as travel to various locations around Cork
County and occasional meetings nationwide can be expected. Currently,
due to public health guidelines, the team is working partly from home
and partly in the office. Note: this is subject to change.

HOURS OF WORK:

Out of office hours and at weekend work where necessary.

CONTRACT: Permanent subject to funding
