The Irish Heart Foundation is Ireland?s national charity dedicated
to fighting heart disease and stroke. Every hour someone in Ireland
suffers a stroke and every day hundreds of people are diagnosed with
heart conditions. The lives of these people are often cut tragically
short. Many are left with disabilities. Almost 9,**Apply on the

We work to turn this around ? support people to live healthy lives
and avoid cardiovascular disease, but also to support people living
with heart conditions and stroke.

THE ROLE

Health promotion and prevention are core, longstanding aspects of the
Irish Heart Foundation?s strategy with the aim of informing,
enabling and supporting people to lead healthier lives.

We are now seeking a health promotion professional to lead and manage
the multidisciplinary health promotion team in its work to reduce
cardiovascular health inequalities. The ideal person will be a
self-starter, confident in engaging with a diverse range of
stakeholders and a proven ability to professionally represent IHF in
high profile public arenas. A nursing background is highly desirable.

Reporting to the Director of Health Promotion, Information & Training,
the Health Promotion Manager is a senior role, responsible for
delivery of the Irish Heart Foundation?s strategy in this area,
through the development and delivery of innovative programmes and
campaigns. In addition to building on existing services, there will be
the opportunity to work on developing new strategic initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Leading the development and operational management of health
promotion programmes to deliver on the organisation?s strategic plan
including a focus on health inequalities and health literacy.
* Empowering and developing the health promotion team to identify
growth opportunities and to deliver on defined objectives.
* Strong contributor to the departmental management team playing a
strategic role in the development and direction of the department?s
work.
* Represent the IHF and its work, building and managing strong
relationships with key stakeholders and funders.
* Responsible for supervising the organisation, management and
quality control of professional heart health checks in community and
workplace settings.
* Supported by the IHF Medical Director, oversight of a panel of
contractor health check nurses.
* Build and maintain excellent working knowledge of cardiovascular
disease, risk factors, health behaviour change and the evidence-base
and health promotion initiatives to address these areas.
* Act as internal advisor and external media spokesperson
* Implement planning and project management processes to ensure the
effective coordination and integration of the programmes and resources
of the team.
* Implement a system for establishing and monitoring consistent,
objective programme performance standards of accountability and
compliance
* Support academic research studies of the team?s work, as
required
* Work with and support other departments including Advocacy,
Patient Support and Fundraising, Marketing & Communications to
maximise synergies and cross-departmental working.
* Work with the departmental director and finance team to maintain
systems of budget management
* Responsible for reports and administration work related to
position.
* Willingness to innovate and expand the role.

EDUCATION

* Undergraduate or post-graduate degree in health promotion or
similar.
* A professional nursing background is highly desirable.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

* At least five years? demonstrable professional experience
developing, running and monitoring health promotion, public health or
community initiatives
* Understanding and knowledge of health promotion values &
competencies and health behaviour change is essential.
* Experience working in primary care and/or the community setting,
particularly with disadvantaged groups
* Ability to think and act strategically
* Strong networking and relationship-building capabilities
* Experience leading and managing a diverse team.
* Excellent interpersonal communication, group facilitation and
presentation skills
* Strong project management skills. Must be able to prioritise
workload, plan and work to multiple deadlines in a demanding
environment
* Strong MS Office skills essential. CRM database experience an
advantage.
* Evidence of continuous professional development
* Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously.
* Membership of the Association for Health Promotion Ireland and the
IUHPE Health Promotion Practitioners? register is desirable.
* Eligibility to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board
of Ireland is desirable.

_DETAILS OF ROLE AND APPLICATION PROCESS_

_This is a full-time permanent role, Monday to Friday. The role is
based in the Irish Heart Foundation?s offices in Rathmines, Dublin.
Currently staff are working remotely and the successful candidate will
be supported to work remotely initially according to public health
guidelines._
