RESPONSIBLE FOR
Assist Sligo Traveller Support Group (STSG) in the development and
delivery of health education, outreach and advocacy to male members of
the Traveller community in County Sligo.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* In association with the Primary Healthcare Team, identify the
health needs of Travellers in County Sligo. Establish links with
appropriate service providers to address these needs. Play an active
role in the planning, organising and implementation of required
programmes operated by STSG aimed at addressing such needs.
* Network within and across the Traveller community of County Sligo.
Home visits are to be conducted regularly. The home visit STSG
protocol is to be followed at all times when conducting home visits.
* Facilitate dialogue and communication between service providers
and the local Traveller community. Work to ensure that the health
information being disseminated locally is correct, consistent and
appropriate for the client.
* Work closely with HSE personnel and departments, including the
Designated Public Health Nurse for Travellers, as well as other
relevant agencies.
