BACKGROUND

Addiction Counsellors of Ireland (ACI) was originally formed as the
IAAAC (Irish Association of Alcohol and Addiction Counsellors) in

represent alcohol and addiction counsellors in Ireland. The
association was rebranded as ACI in **Apply on the website** to
reflect contemporary membership, ensure congruence with emerging
alcohol and drug policy and create robust structures for representing

ACI currently has a membership of more than **Apply on the website**
including Pre accredited members, Accredited members, and Clinical
Supervisors. ACI currently accredits Counsellors and Psychotherapists
who hold the appropriate relevant educational qualifications and also
meet course requirements as outlined in the Membership Criteria.

The need for consistency of qualifications, continuing professional
development and overall standards ensures accountability,
professionalism, and evidence-based practice. ACI has a
long-established Complaints and Fitness to Practice Sub-committee,
which aims is to respond to complaints from service users/clients.
This robust process protects service users, ACI members and the public
alike.

PRIMARY AIM

ACI intends to develop a 3-year strategic plan for **Apply on the
website**. This plan will guide ACI and inform the organisation?s
annual business plans during this period. ACI intends to appoint a
consultant to undertake this piece of work.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES

The overall aim will be to develop a 3-year strategic plan for
Addiction Counsellors of Ireland. This can be broken down as follows:

* Brief review of previous Strategic Plan
* Develop a profile of the target group with whom ACI works with and
alongside and develop a profile that recognises future demographic
trends that relate to this target group.
* Ascertain from all stakeholders, the most appropriate services
that ACI needs to provide over the next three years. Stakeholders are
the members of the organisation, ACI?s Board of Trustees and various
statutory, voluntary and community bodies within the healthcare and
educational spheres.
* Map current company management structure and approaches required
to successfully undertake work until end of **Apply on the website**.
* Collate information from the research and develop a Strategic Plan
that will detail time realistic, achievable, and measurable goals.
* Identification of the resources needed to meet goals set out in
the Strategic Plan. Identify resource gaps with ways & timeframe of
filling these to form part of plan.
* Provision of a written Strategic Plan in report format along with
soft copy for stakeholder circulation and website display will inform
each yearly Business Plan over the next three years.

METHODOLOGIES TO BE EMPLOYED

Methodologies employed will be in agreement with ACI Board of Trustees
and which will be inclusive of and sensitive to all stakeholders.

TIMEFRAME

* Interested consultants will furnish ACI with a breakdown of their
proposed work, timeframe, costings, and copies of previous work by 5pm

* ACIs Board of trustees will aim to appoint its preferred candidate
in early November **Apply on the website** and work can also commence
in November **Apply on the website**.
* ACI Board of Trustees will expect a final draft of the plan to be

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

* All Consultants tendering for this piece of work should include
references of previous pieces of similar research / plans.
* A comprehensive breakdown of charges, timeframes, and a clear
deadline date.
* If a conflict of interest arises all consultants tendering must
declare this in their tender application.
* The Consultant contracted should ideally understand the work
undertaken by ACI and its members. Additionally, methodologies
employed over this process will enable the Consultant to
communicate/engage directly with stakeholders within an
action-oriented, developmental and transparent context.

PAYMENT WILL TAKE PLACE IN THREE INSTALMENTS:

* When the contract is signed
* When the first draft is submitted
* On ratification of the completed strategy by ACI Board of Trustees
