JOB TITLE: FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER ? PART-TIME

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To work with the Project Co-ordinator and
Team Leader to implement the Centre?s work plan so that local
families are supported and encouraged to function more effectively.

KEY AREAS OF WORK

COMMUNITY BASED FAMILY SUPPORT

* Promote local target group involvement in the Centre
* Identify factors leading to disadvantage in the area and work with
the Co-ordinator, the Team Leader and the Voluntary Board of Directors
to raise awareness of these issues
* Deliver a range of family supports in the community in line with
the Centre?s Workplan, including community events
* Ensure that the work of the Centre is in keeping with the aims and
objectives of the Family Resource Centre Programme
* Raise the profile of the Centre
* Provide support and information to individuals and groups that are
marginalised.
* Work with the relevant statutory and voluntary agencies and
facilitate inter-agency co-operation to address the needs of the
target group and families in the local community
* Work with the Co-ordinator and Team Leader to identify funding
sources.
* Facilitate networking at local and regional level as appropriate.
* Liaise with colleagues within Education, Health and Social
Services (Adult/Children Services) and professionals within external
agencies.
* Work closely with the Co-ordinator and Team Leader to promote and
support local voluntary and community activities that benefit the
target groups of the Programme and address disadvantage and
inequalities in ways that are respectful and non-discriminatory.
* Participate in planning, review and evaluation of the work of the
Centre

SPECIFIC AREAS OF WORK

* Develop and support community initiatives that address the needs of
local families.
* To assess the needs of each individual in a person centred manner
and plan responses within the available resources.
* To provide practical support to individuals and families.

GENERAL

* Minimum qualification requirement for this position: Level 7
* Document the work on an on-going basis and prepare regular work /
progress reports for the Co-ordinator, the Team Leader and the
Voluntary Board of Directors
* Be vigilant in relation to all child protection and welfare
concerns in line with FRC Policies and Procedures
* Work in co-operation with Statutory Authorities in compliance with
Children First
* Participate in relevant training
* Any other tasks that may be assigned by the Project from
time-to-time

OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION

HOURS OF WORK

* The post will be part-time ? **Apply on the website** hours per
week
* 3 days per week unless otherwise agreed by the Voluntary Board of
Directors. The Family Support will be expected to be flexible about
evening and weekend work for which overtime will not be paid but
time-off-in-lieu will be granted.
* A ten-month probation period will apply.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The Family Support Worker will be responsible to the Project
Co-ordinator, the Team Leader and to the Voluntary Board of Directors.

CONFIDENTIALITY

The Family Support Worker will observe confidentiality at all times in
relation to Centre business.

HOLIDAYS

GARDA VETTING

The position is subject to the completion of a satisfactory Garda
Vetting process.
