LOCATION: The Bessborough Centre (will include travel within Co. Cork)

RESPONSIBLE TO: ChiPPs Clinical Lead (Senior Clinical Psychologist)

The Bessborough Centre, in collaboration with Springboard Project
Cork, are seeking to recruit an assistant psychologist for a new child
and adolescent mental health, and early intervention, service,
specifically for children in foster or residential care between the
ages of 5 and **Apply on the website**.

The service, called ChiPPS (Children?s Intervention and Prevention
Pathways), aims to provide a range of treatment and assessment
approaches tailored to children who have experienced developmental and
attachment trauma through a stepped-care prevention and intervention
model. The service will have multidisciplinary focus and draw on a
wide range of allied health professionals, including Occupational
Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychotherapists and Play
Therapists.

The successful candidate, under supervision of a clinical
psychologist, will be assessment of the needs of children in care, as
well as some direct and indirect psychological input though groups and
individual work. The role will offer specialist training in
developmental trauma, attachment, infant mental health, child and
adolescent mental health and clinical skills. We are committed to
embedding an evidence-based culture of trauma-informed care and
therapeutic practice and therefore keen to assess the effectiveness of
our service. As such, service evaluation and audit will also be an
integral part of the role.

Opportunities to work across other areas of The Bessborough Centre to
include our parent/infant residential service, parenting capacity
assessment service, therapeutic access service, community family
support service will also be possible.

JOB DESCRIPTION

* Assisting in the administration of cognitive, mental health and
parenting psychometric assessment for parents and children. Scoring
and writing up the results of psychometric assessment.
* Assist in the facilitation of therapeutic groups and carry out
psychoeducational intervention with clients.
* Exercise excellent organisation skills in building and maintaining
a client database and records system
* Promote relational and psychologically informed practice across
all aspects of the service. Promote and champion an infant mental
health perspective among clients and colleagues.
* Conduct clinically relevant research and maintain literature and
research databases, where appropriate, in collaboration with
colleagues from other disciplines.
* Supports service evaluations, including ongoing group evaluations,
service satisfaction surveys, and other outcome measures, and
maintains appropriate records/databases of these.
* Assists the Clinical/Counselling Psychologist in providing
training and support of the wider staff team.
* Liaison role between Clinical Lead, Clinical Team and wider staff
team regarding understanding and implementation of clients? care
programmes.
* To undertake any reasonable travelling requirements in order to
fulfil the tasks and responsibilities of the role.
* Engage in regular clinical supervision with clinical psychologist
and maintain supervision and reflective logs as required
* To undertake any other duties as may arise from time to time be
specified by the Centre, that are within the level and responsibility
appropriate to the grade of the post.
* Communicating with various internal and external stakeholders by
attending and contributing to various cross-departmental meetings
including staff team meetings and external multi-disciplinary team
meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Post-Graduate degree in psychology in clinically related area, or
be completing one
* Eligible to apply for Graduate Membership of the PSI

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

* High level of computer literacy in Word, Powerpoint, Excel and
SPSS
* Full clean driving licence
