JOB TITLE:

REPORTING TO: L.E.E Manager

EMPLOYER: Donegal Local Development CLG (DLDC)

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:

The position is as follows:

* 2.5 days working within the role of Community Food & Nutrition
* 2.5 days working within the role of Community Health Promotions
Co-ordinator

The Community Food & Nutrition Worker will work within the
Sl?intecare Healthy Communities (SHC) Programme.
This initiative focuses on the implementation of an enhanced Health
and Wellbeing Programme within areas where Social Inclusion Community
Activation Programme are active, with the greatest levels of
disadvantage and highest proportion of young families to deliver
evidence informed services to improve local population health and
wellbeing outcomes.

The Community Health Promotions Co-ordinator will manage and promote
health and wellbeing programmes across the county.

SALARY: Available on request

CONDITIONS OF WORK:

* The successful candidate will be required to work **Apply on the

* A probationary period of at least six months will apply.
* This is a 1 year Fixed Term contract and may cease/continue after
this date, dependent on funding.
* Main base will be Letterkenny but flexibility may be available.

MAIN DUTIES OF THE COMMUNITY FOOD & NUTRITION WORKER

* To build capacity, knowledge and skills across communities and with
local statutory and voluntary partners to improve the food environment
and address food poverty, and activate agreed national campaigns.
* To develop health awareness of individuals, groups and
organisations and empowering them to make healthy food choices.
* To work with and support a range statutory and community
organisations to develop and implement evidence based effective
responses to improving the food environment in communities, addressing
food poverty and reducing health inequalities as part of Sl?intecare.
* To support the delivery of Healthy Food for Life guidelines
focused workshops and community programmes including Healthy Food Made
Easy, weaning workshops, healthy eating for older adults etc.
* To co-ordinate the activation of agreed national campaigns that
address healthy lifestyles and Healthy Food for Life guidelines in
local communities.
* To work with the HSE national co-ordinator to identify and respond
to training needs and resource development arising from strategic
national and local agendas to support the effective implementation of
the agreed programme of work.
* Identify risk factors to the health and wellbeing of the
population that are particularly prevalent due to deprivation and
implement targeted initiatives to tackle these challenges from within
these communities.

MAIN DUTIES OF THE COMMUNITY HEALTH & WELLBEING CO-ORDINATOR

* To manage a team of facilitators across the county.
* To co-ordinate Healthy Food Made Easy (HFME) and We Can Quit, to
build sustainable improvements in the health and wellbeing of those of
all ages living in the communities
* To support community based organisations in effective delivery of
health & wellbeing related projects
* To undertake appropriate monitoring and data collection to
demonstrate the level of participation and impact within communities
* To maintain operating accounts and work to an agreed budget
* To identify possible funding sources for DLDC
* Assist with monitoring and evaluation of the programmes.
* Prepare monthly reports for the Line Manager, DLDC Board and
programme funders.
* Carry out any other function relevant to the position of Community
Health promotions Co-ordinator as indicated from time to time.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

1 QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL:

* Third level Qualification in Health & Nutrition

DESIRABLE:

* Fluent in the Irish language

2 EXPERIENCE

At least 3 years? experience in a role that has involved:

* Health promotion and improvement
* Health behaviour change,
* Working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders

Experience and an understanding of:

* Co-ordinating project(s) and programme(s)
* Community Development
* Supporting disadvantaged individuals

3 PROJECT MANAGEMENT SKILLS

* The ability to motivate others, influence opinion, inspire trust
and develop mutually beneficial relationships
* The ability to form good working relationships with organisations
and communities
* Good organisational and planning skills, good attention to detail
in approach to work, have effective time management skills and an
ability to work to tight deadlines
* Have an ability to work flexibly with DLDC colleagues to ensure
efficient delivery of schemes
* Be capable of supervising compliance with health and safety
requirements
* Be able to set, manage and monitor work schedules and attainment
of targets for the programmes
* Excellent computer/ICT and record keeping skills

4 INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

The successful candidate will be required to be able to liaise
effectively and efficiently with groups and agencies providing
services to individuals and communities. They will be required to act
as a positive and contributing member of the wider staff team within
DLDC.

5 COMMUNICATION

You will have experience of forming good working relationships with
organisations and communities, combined with excellent communication
and listening skills.

6 ?OTHER?

* Access to appropriate transport to fulfil the requirements of the
role as post will involve frequent travel.
* A track record which demonstrates initiative, personal motivation,
an ability to make things happen and achieve outcomes.
* An ability to use independent judgment and handle confidential
material sensitively.
