Offaly Traveller Movement: Youth Worker (Part-Time, Specified Purpose Contract)
POSITION: YOUTH WORKER (SPECIFIED PURPOSE CONTRACT)

Offaly Traveller Movement (OTM) is a Traveller-led community
development organisation, working to address issues facing Travellers
in the region including, health, mental health, accommodation, youth,
education, cultural and ethnic identity and human rights. OTM is
delighted to be seeking a dynamic person for the post of Youth Worker.
The Youth Worker will work as part of the team in supporting the
provision and coordination, of youth work services locally. They will
develop and implement programmes and services that support the work of
OTM with young people from the Traveller Community. It is expected
that the Youth Worker will engage in direct work with Travellers in
the area of youth and have the necessary skills to carry out the work
as outlined.

THE PURPOSE OF THE POST WILL BE:

* To identify and respond to the needs of targeted young Travellers

* To plan, develop and deliver youth group programmes to the target
group who are identified through various youth work methodologies.
* To assist young people to successfully participate with the
service in order to enhance their capacity to reach their full
potential.
* To refer on and signpost young people who may be in need of
additional specialised services.
* To represent the issues of Traveller Youth on a range of forums as
relevant

This post will be part-time, **Apply on the website** hours per week
(to include evening work and Saturdays so flexibility is required).
This position is offered on a ?specified purpose contract? to
cover Carer?s Leave

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE:

* Youth/Community Development or relevant qualification
* Detailed understanding of the issues and barriers faced by young
Travellers
* Experience of report writing including; funding proposals,
applications, evaluation reports etc.
* A demonstrable commitment to human rights and social justice and a
commitment to work from an anti-racist and equality work perspective
* The ability to demonstrate a strong teamwork ethic and capacity to
work on your own initiative
* Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills
* Excellent computer skills
* Be dependable and flexible
* Access to own transport with a full driving license
