INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY NURSE

BACKGROUND

The Anne Sullivan Centre located on Brewery Road, Stillorgan opened in
**Apply on the website** and is the first residential setting in
Ireland, that supports individuals who are deafblind. We provide
residential, day and outreach services to adults who are deafblind,
enabling them to pursue meaningful, active and fulfilling lives.

At present, we are looking to engage an enthusiastic and experienced
sessional Nurse, with a specialism in Intellectual Disability, to work
in a consultancy capacity with the Anne Sullivan Centre.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* To engage with Residents on a regular basis, assessing their
therapeutic/nursing needs, whilst ensuring person centred care.
* To work in conjunction with the ASC multi-disciplinary team,
providing ID nursing expertise for Residents.
* To advise Team Leaders and Key workers on appropriate therapeutic
interventions for residents.
* To part-take and actively contribute to regular ASC meetings e.g.
Wound Management Meetings.
* To attend Annual MDT (Multidisciplinary Team) & Case conference
meetings, as required.
* Take a leading role in ensuring the ASC's compliance in medication
management policies and procedures, including auditing of medication
systems and assisting in medication reviews, in conjunction with the
GP and Pharmacist.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Hold a current and recognised third level qualification in
Intellectual Disability Nursing (RNID) and at least 2 years? post
qualification experience, suited to a Residential care setting.

ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES

* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, with
experience of Alternative and Augmentative Communication Systems
* A knowledge and understanding of therapeutic interventions
required in residential care settings for individuals with
intellectual disabilities and/ or dual sensory impairments

HOURS OF AVAILABILITY (WORK)

The position is for consultancy work, which we anticipate would be 8
