POLICY OFFICER

1. ROLE:

Providing support to Depaul Services and Dept NI and ROI with review
of existing policies and procedures and with the development of new
policies and associated documents. This person will be working across
the different functions within the Organisation.

2. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

_TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO THE QUALITY AND COMPLIANCE DEPARTMENT BY:_

* Review of Policy content
* Research new content for policy and procedures
* Co-ordinating subject matter expert groups of staff to review and
develop policy
* Co-ordinate service user input to policy review and development
* Communicating with relevant internal stakeholders
* Liaise with the senior management team and other managers as
required
* Ensuring policies and practices are complaint with ROI/NI
legislation and EU regulatory obligations.
* Supporting the communication of new/reviewed policies to relevant
staff and volunteers
* Support the reporting of compliance records of sign off by staff
* To support Quality and Compliance department when required.
* Management of policy section of Learning Management System

THE ABOVE LIST IS NOT EXHAUSTIVE; ADDITIONAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
MAY BE ADDED OVER TIME AND FLEXIBILITY TO COVER FOR OTHER STAFF ROLES
IS REQUIRED FROM TIME TO TIME.

3. PERSON REQUIREMENTS:

* At least 2 years? paid experience in homeless services or in
policy related role (ESSENTIAL)
* 3rd level qualification or equivalent (ideally in social policy or
other policy related focus) ? desirable, not essential.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills ? to prepare
materials in plain English whilst ensuring that all final documents
are legally correct & accurate
* Ability to engage in consultation processes and expedite work
without delay
* Experience of working with a learning management system
(desirable)
* Experience of working within the social care, not for profit
sector (desirably within homelessness)
* Excellent oral and written communication skills with an ability to
create communications appropriate for the audience.
* Creative and energetic with the ability to work on own initiative.
* Excellent time management / enabling to balance a varied workload
and to prioritise.
* Excellent negotiating, influencing and people skills.
* Excellent analytical skills.
* Excellent team skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
* A high level of organisational skills in delivering agreed work
outcomes within tight timeframes
