L?Arche Cork are recruiting for a position in our Turas Project. The
Turas Project Worker will collaborate in the planning and provision of
a suite of activities for adults with intellectual disability (ID) to
collectively engage in, with a predominant focus on older adults and
on active citizenship in the wider community.
EXPECTATIONS OF THE ROLE OF ACTIVITY WORKER:
* To create opportunity for adults with ID to enjoy social
connectedness and/or meaningful social roles, both within and outside
of the L?Arche community.
* To promote quality of life, physical, and emotional health, in
identifying supports and pastimes for older adults with ID.
* To support and encourage participation in organised activities.
This includes online or group activities, such as music or chair-based
yoga.
* To adopt a Person-Centred approach in responsiveness to the
identified needs and preferences of adults with ID, facilitating their
independence.
* To be adaptable to changing needs, with due regard to aging adults
with ID.
* To function as an advocate as required.
* To network in the community and engage volunteers and students.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:
* A minimum QQI Level 5 qualification in social care, or equivalent
qualification with a minimum of 2-years? experience.
* Strong organisational skills ? time management, work planning,
and initiative.
* Honed communication and people skills ? active listening and
teamwork.
* Commitment to best practice, to regulations, and to L?Arche
policy, especially regarding safeguarding, upholding confidentiality,
and accountability.
* Some degree of flexibility in response to arising needs.
* Full clean driving licence.
* The post is subject to Garda vetting.
SALARY SCALE: HSE Health Care Assistant **Apply on the

annum, pro rata.
