FOLLOWING POSITION:

JOB TITLE: Senior Harm Reduction Worker (Crack cocaine specific)

REPORTING TO: The Manager

HOURS OF WORK: **Apply on the website** hours per week (5 days over 7)

LOCATION: JADD, Jobstown, Tallaght.

PAY SCALE: Social Care Worker (with qualification)

DETAILS OF SERVICE: JADD is a community-based charity that provides
treatments & supports to individuals & families affected by addiction
problems in the Jobstown, and surrounding communities. JADD is funded
by, and works in partnership with, the Health Service Executive
addiction services & the Tallaght Drug & Alcohol Task Force. In
response in an increased prevalence of crack cocaine use, and
associated public health risks, JADD are recruiting for a Senior Harm
Reduction Worker.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

* Bachelor of Arts in applied social care, social work, or applied
addiction studies.
* Minimum of five years full-time experience working in addiction
services.
* Experience of developing and implementing addiction specific
programmes.
* Experience of collecting data on trends, behaviours, prevalence
etc., and recording & reporting on same.
* Experience of working in a harm reduction service, specifically
needle exchange, etc.
* Understanding of the National Drugs Strategy; Local Drug Task
Forces; NDRIC Framework, etc.
* Experience of working with other agencies, including statutory,
voluntary and community.
* Experience of facilitating risk assessments, crisis interventions,
brief interventions, etc.
* Understanding and knowledge of addictive behaviours and recovery.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Full Irish drivers license
* Use of own transport, with appropriate cover for use during work.
* IT skills.
* Good communication skills.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

* MA/M.Sc. addiction studies, social care, social policy, or similar.
* Knowledge of HSE Safer Better Healthcare Standards.
* Previous experience of supervising and leading teams.
* Training in harm reduction, for example, needle exchange, crack
cocaine, etc.
* Experience providing outreach support to individuals with
substance use problems.
* Experience working in a community-based addiction service.

_RESPONSIBILITIES_

* To facilitate the assessment of individuals needs reporting crack
cocaine use.
* To provide case-management support.
* To deliver outreach support to individuals reporting crack cocaine
use.
* To provide access to harm reduction equipment, information &
advice.
* To provide advocacy support.
* Provide referrals into JADD rehabilitation team for assessment, as
required.
* To make referrals to external and internal programmes/services.
* To attend weekly clinical meeting.
* To collect and maintain client information in a confidential and
professional manner.
* To record and update data ? both database and hard files.
* To develop reports as requested.
* Other duties as directed by line supervisor.
* Attend and participate in training, as required.

NOTE:

This role will not be limited by reference to the above job
description, as other duties that serve the interests of service users
and the community may be required. The successful applicant will also
be expected to demonstrate flexibility regarding hours, evening, and
weekend work.

Garda vetting will be required for this role, in line with JADD?s
recruitment & selection policy & procedure.

The salary for this role will be in line with the Social Care Worker
(with qualification) pay scale, commensurate with relevant
qualifications and experience.
