JOB TITLE: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

REPORTS TO: Chairperson of the Board of Directors

LOCATION: Bray & Arklow, Co Wicklow

PURPOSE: The CEO is responsible for providing strategic, financial and
operational leadership for the charity and works closely with the
Board of Directors and senior leadership team.

SALARY: Competitive salary commensurate with experience

HOURS: Full time, permanent

charity that provides a volunteer led professional counselling
service, that is accessible and affordable to those in our local
communities facing personal difficulties and challenges. At our
centres in Bray and Arklow, we help clients with addictions, crime
victimisation, stress, anxiety, loss, abuse, depression, eating
disorders, relationships and suicidal ideation.

OVERVIEW:

We are looking for an experienced Chief Executive Officer to supervise
and manage all strategic and business aspects of the charity. The
ideal candidate will be a prudent manager and an inspiring leader who
possesses a business mindset alongside the ability to see the ?big
picture? in a variety of settings. They will do whatever is
necessary to enhance the charity?s cash flow while keeping the human
factor in perspective. The goal is to continue to deliver a
high-quality service to those who need it most and to guide the
organisation towards long-term success.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ARE:

Strategic:

* Create, communicate, and implement the organisation's vision,
mission, and overall direction.
* Work with the Board to execute the **Apply on the website**
strategic plan.
* Deliver the annual operating plan and budget through effective
day-to-day operational management.
* Ensure the counselling service is delivered to levels of quality
agreed with the Board.
* Proactively manage relationships with all key external
stakeholders, particularly funders but also the wider business
community.
* Submit all returns to funders in full and on time.
* Ensure an appropriate governance framework is in place, supported
by effective policies and processes, which ensures that all statutory
obligations are met, organisational quality goals are achieved and
client service standards evolve in line with need.

Staff Support:

* Lead the team comprising full-time and part-time staff and
volunteers, offering a first-class service to our client base.
* Oversee the training and development needs of staff and provide
opportunities for them in line with quality standards and CPD.
* Manage the recruitment, selection, appraisal, and development of
staff and volunteers.

Finance/Administration:

* Manage the charity?s resources including preparing the annual
budget and working closely with the accountants in preparing monthly
income and expenditure reports.
* Assess risks to the charity and ensure they are monitored and
minimised.
* Ensure all aspects of service provision are delivered in line with
budget and immediately report any deviations to the Board.
* Any other appropriate duties.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

THE PERSON APPOINTED TO THIS ROLE WILL HAVE EXCELLENT SENIOR
MANAGEMENT CAPABILITY EVIDENCED BY:

* Experience working at a CEO or a senior level; ideally in a
charity.
* Capacity to manage a wide range of activities at once and work
well under pressure.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and inter-personal skills.
* In-depth knowledge of compliance and governance matters for the
charity sector.
* Strong understanding of finance and performance management
principles.
* Effective analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.

IDEALLY THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL SHOW:

* Strong commitment to the values, ethos and mission of Living Life
Counselling.
* Awareness of current issues in the voluntary sector such as;
community development, positive mental health, social inclusion and/or
related areas.
* A record of educational achievement to degree level.
* Holds a clean driving licence and be flexible to work from the
centres in Arklow and Bray.
