Federation Muintir na Tire are an independent voluntary body who
promote the welfare of the people of Cork County through the process
of Community Development.We aim to unite people in a spirit of
Community Service, neighbourliness and self reliance in working to the
common good.We wish to foster an active local patriotism and love of
Ireland's natural heritage and traditions.We seek to foster a sense of
responsibility to the needs and problems of the local community and to
devise programmes of action and development especially those based on
co-operation.

CORK COUNTY FEDERATION MUINTIR NA TIRE WISHES TO RECRUIT A SUITABLY
QUALIFIED PERSON FOR THE ROLE OF CULTURAL COMPANIONS COORDINATOR

CULTURAL COMPANIONS.

Cultural Companions is an established Age and Opportunity Initiative
operating in Dublin and other areas around the Country. The aim of
Cultural Companions is to address the issue of social isolation
amongst older people by facilitating their engagement in arts,
heritage and cultural opportunities, and by providing volunteer
companions for encouragement and support. Cork County Federation
Muintir na Tire, Cork County Council and the HSE have come together to
establish a Cultural Companions Network in Cork City and County.

Many of us would probably go to a lot more plays, films, shows,
concerts, exhibitions or other events if we had someone to go with.
There is a thriving social and arts scene out there to be enjoyed if
only we had someone with the know-how, the transport or the shared
interest to get us going. That is where Cultural Companions comes in.

The Cultural Companions Support worker will set up local networks of
people interested in arts and culture that will accompany each other
to events ? like-minded people that meet up regularly to go out
together either with one other person or as part of a small group. Its
aim is to provide increased opportunities for older people to engage
with Ireland's vibrant cultural and arts scene.

The Co-ordinator will work under the direct supervision of the
Community Development Worker of Cork County Federation Muintir na Tire
to implement the Cultural Companions Initiative and other parts of our
work programme. The initiative will be developed and guided in
conjunction with the Cultural Companion?s Steering Group.

This post is Part - time, temporary ? Subject to on-going funding.

The Cultural Companions coordinator will be based in Cork City and
there is an expectation that a minimum of **Apply on the website** %
of working time will spent be at the Cork City office. Remote working
arrangements considered outside of this on request, in line with
Muintir na Tire policies. Travel across Cork City and County is a key
requirement of the job.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

ESSENTIAL:

* A recognised qualification in the following:
Community Development or Arts Culture Heritage or equivalent.
* Or at least 2 years? experience of working as a Community Worker
or Arts Culture Heritage worker in either a paid or voluntary
capacity.
* Experience in managing /working with volunteers, Leading and
motivating others.
* Ability to work as part of a team and on own Initiative
* Experience of working from a community development approach &
principles.
* Experience of Fundraising and sourcing funding / Budgeting skills
/
* Excellent communication / media skills both verbal & written
report writing skills
* Proven ability to network
* Open and innovative approach to work
* Full Driving Licence and access to a car to use for work ?
throughout City and County

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

* A genuine interest in Culture and the Arts
* A genuine enjoyment of helping people to develop
* Knowledge of local development and the changing local development
landscape, including knowledge of the work of Cork County Federation
Muintir na Tire, Healthy Ireland, Creative Ireland, and Age Friendly
Programmes.
* A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice.

JOB SPECIFICATION

* Development of local Hubs / Networks
* Good Communication skills and ability to provide regular written
program updates and reports
* Focus on Social Inclusion engaging with those who may be isolated
/lonely
* Develop strong volunteer support for the programme.
* A genuine interest in Culture Heritage and the Arts
* Ability to work in a respectful and professional manner
* To be punctual reliable and trustworthy.
* Competency in computer programmes such as Word, Excel. Mailchimp
and Survey Monkey
* Maintain confidentiality at all times and comply with GDPR
requirements.
* Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
* Participation in appropriate training events / programmes.
* Critical Evaluation will form part of the project.

THE POST WILL BE FOR 3 DAYS A WEEK ?- DEPENDING ON THE SUCCESS OF
