Brad?g Youth Service (BYS) is a community-based project working with
young people and families in the North West Inner City. Brad?g Youth
Service consists of two internal strands, one of which is the Youth
Diversion which is a Youth Diversion Project that is funded by EU
Funds Unit.
Youth Diversion Projects are community-based, initiatives which
primarily seek to divert young people from anti-social and/or criminal
behaviour. This is done by providing suitable activities to facilitate
personal development, promote civic responsibility and improve long
term employability prospects. Brad?g Youth Diversion Project supports
and engages young people in the North West Inner city. We wish to
invite energetic and interested individuals to apply for the following
post.
Brad?g Youth Service are looking to recruit a bi-lingual Roma
Activities and Support Worker to be part of the diversion team. This
position aims to support Roma young people who have entered the
Justice system and are hard to reach within the community. The worker
will work alongside a Roma Youth Justice worker to identify and
support Roma young people who reside on both the North and South Inner
city.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
The successful applicant will have the following requirements;
* Level 5 or higher in the field of child care, youth services,
education, health, sports or an equivalent professional qualification.
* Good English language skills and be fluent in Romanian and or
Romani languages.
* Experience in working with the Roma Community and/or young people
from residential services or minority ethnic groups
* Full Clean Driving Licence is desirable
KEY SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
* The focus of your work will be to establish a working relationship
with Roma young people and their families who have come to the
attention of the Garda Youth Diversion Programme.
* Work alongside the Roma Youth Justice worker in assessing young
people?s risks and needs and developing interventions for young
people.
* To provide, family and educational support to Roma young people
* To deliver youth work programmes to Roma Young people between the

community areas

relationships with young people
* Good interpersonal skills, including ability to liaise with a wide
range of contacts and build and maintain effective working
relationships
* Present with attributes of an effective Youth justice worker
including; Empathy, Listening skills, dependability and respect
* Ability to be proactive, use own initiative and work effectively
within a pressurised environment
* Positive and flexible approach to teamwork and collaboration
* Good communications skills, including ability to draft summary
information and correspondence, good report writing skills
* Excellent computer skills, including Word processing, Excel,
Internet and CRM
