CONSTITUENCY ASSISTANT TO R?IS?N SHORTALL TD

R?is?n Shortall TD has a vacancy for a Constituency Assistant. The
full-time post would be based in D?il Eireann with the option of
hybrid working. The post is subject to a probationary period.

The primary function of this post is to provide support to the Deputy
in matters relating to the Dublin North West constituency and to
assist in the management of constituency related work.

The work will include assisting in the production and overseeing the
delivery of regular constituency newsletters, dealing with some case
work, working with constituency representatives, tracking and
responding to local planning applications, creating content for social
media, and monitoring major local developments. Training will be
provided.

The successful candidate will have strong organisational skills, as
well as good political/community awareness, a solutions-focussed
approach, a good sense of judgement, excellent interpersonal skills,
and a genuine commitment to social justice, honest public service and
the principles of the Social Democrats.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Research, produce and manage the designing, printing and delivery
of regular constituency newsletters
* Handle some constituency cases, take responsibility for
community-related issues, and ensure deadlines for these are met
* Monitor constituency related issues, including significant
planning applications or rezoning proposals, significant Council
proposals, proposals by national bodies and significant funding and
budgetary developments affecting the constituency
* Work with other constituency, parliamentary and party staff and
with Councillors, candidates and party representatives on a range of
issues
* Draft constituency-related parliamentary questions
* Update the Deputy?s social media platforms with constituency
related posts
* Monitor local media
* Liaise with Residents Associations
* Manage the Deputy?s diary
* Other related duties as may be assigned by the Deputy

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

* Strong organisational experience and skills
* Good writing skills
* Ideally, have a good knowledge of the profile and main issues in
Dublin North West
* Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage priorities
* Good political/community awareness
* Knowledge and understanding of the political environment
* Awareness of both national and local issues
* Good research, communication and advocacy skills
* Proficiency in Office programmes
* Experience of design and layout of publications would be an
advantage as would experience of social media and video

* Fixed-term contract (ends on dissolution of current D?il)
* Normal working hours are **Apply on the website**am to 6pm Mon-Fri
with an hour for lunch. Some flexibility is required and is available.
* Based in Leinster House with the option of hybrid working
