HUGG

Healing Untold Grief Groups, or HUGG for short, was founded in **Apply
on the website** by Fiona Tuomey following the death of her **Apply on
the website** year old daughter Milly by suicide. HUGG is national
suicide bereavement charity, whose mission is to provide hope and
healing to any adult bereaved by suicide. Our _core service_ is the
provision of HUGG Peer Support Groups across the country. The
provision of suicide postvention is a key part of suicide prevention.

OUR MISSION

* To offer?hope and healing by providing information,
telephone?support and?local?peer support?groups?led by trained
volunteers with lived experience.
* To engage with?suicide research,?to better inform public policy
and improve suicide bereavement services.
* To collaborate with professionals and organisations in the
bereavement sector to advance best practice.
* To raise public awareness about suicide bereavement, and?be a
voice for those bereaved by suicide.
* To advocate for change in how state institutions engage and
support with those bereaved by suicide.

PURPOSE OF POST

We are seeking an individual, with a lived experience of suicide, to
work with HUGG to expand our support groups and manage our volunteer
facilitators. This person with a hands-on approach and the capacity to
work unsupervised and make decisions.

The post holder will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day
management of HUGG?s Volunteer provision across Ireland. Lead the
recruitment, training, management and support of volunteers; the
implementation for volunteer policies and contributing towards the
development of a creative and innovative strategy that will ensure the
volunteer services support the aims, objectives and values of HUGG.

Broadening awareness amongst volunteers, community organisations and
professionals through networking, collaboration and imparting best
practice, skills and knowledge.

Promoting services via discussions with the HSE, NOSP, NGOs, Local
Authorities, Professional Bodies, Funeral Directors, Family Resource
Centres, GPs and the Public.

Understanding of the ethos and nature of the voluntary sector.

To communicate regularly with existing Volunteers, facilitating a
quarterly a quarterly meeting and managing volunteer events, surveys
and training.
