POSITION TITLE: PROJECT WORKER - CROSSCARE VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME

REPORTING TO: Manager of Volunteer Programme

LOCATION/BASE: Finglas

CONTRACT TYPE: Full Time

ROLE PURPOSE:

To provide efficient and high quality services to Crosscare Projects,
through the effective delivery of the volunteer programme.

The Volunteer Project Worker will contribute to the implementation of
this programme for volunteers in all of Crosscare?s Services, ,
ensuring volunteers are fully supported and involved in order to help
achieve Crosscare?s aims and objectives.

THE ROLE:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Link with Project Manager and team to determine the
organisation?s needs for volunteer involvement, and plan for
volunteer recruitment
* Contribute to the development of an organizational plan for the
use of volunteers within Crosscare.
* Support services to develop role descriptions for volunteers prior
to advertisement/placement.
* Along with Manager, Interview, screen, and refer applicants to
appropriate roles/projects.
* In consultation with the Manager, ensure all volunteers are garda
vetted (if required) and reference checked appropriate to their role
* Ensure that volunteers are placed in programmes where they have
access to training and supervision.
* Liaising with Services and HR, establish positive working
relationships between staff members and volunteers;
* Develop and run training/workshops for better understanding of
roles in volunteer management.
* In consultation with Manager, liaise with HR to adapt current
Employee HR policies or create specific volunteer policies to meet the
needs of volunteers and volunteer management.
* Support the Volunteer Manager to develop the communication systems
within Crosscare so that all volunteers have timely access to
information relating to the organisation e.g. events, vacancies,
strategy and also have opportunity to feedback their opinion about the
organisation.
* In consultation with Manager, schedule and coordinate regular
volunteer recognition/appreciation events.
* Maintain a database of volunteers; prepare monthly reports for
Manager, recommend necessary changes or adjustments to the volunteer
programme.
* Monitor trends for volunteer leavers and ensure that all
volunteers are offered the opportunity to have an exit interview and
feedback their experience.
* Support ways for Crosscare to increase/develop diversity in its
volunteering opportunities.

OTHER

* To provide guidance and support to Volunteers and volunteer
managers
* To be a champion of Crosscare ethos, partnering with managers to
encourage a client-centred culture based on the values of love,
respect and excellence.

JOB SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

* Have a minimum of 3 years? experience in a similar role.
* Be a graduate of an appropriate social care/business discipline.
* Demonstrable ability to develop good working relationships with
colleagues, volunteers and external partners and confident in
providing advice and guidance to others around policy, procedure and
good practice.
* Have a strong understanding of volunteers? motivations and the
benefits they bring to Crosscare.
* Evident understanding of best practice in inducting volunteers and
supporting their development.
* Sound and up-to-date knowledge of legislation surrounding
volunteers and charity sector.
* Demonstrable commitment to recognising the potential in all
volunteers & understanding the importance of diversity in volunteering
& the positive impact it can have for Crosscare, the volunteer and the
wider community.
* Excellent facilitation skills.
* Excellent I.T. Skills. Need to be familiar with sugar system.
* Experience of recruitment and selection would be desirable.

dependable in consistently delivering reliable results.
* An ability to be solution focused and to cope with competing

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, leading to an

* Excellent organisational skills
* Flexibility and openness to change are key to this role
